tuner lugs?

what are tuner lugs and why are they "required" for some aftermarket wheels? thanks
*also, while im on topic, if your wheels do not have wheel locks, do they sell any sort of universal locks? im not too sure how that would work, but i thought i'd see if anyone had heard of such...

you need them sometimes because like my rims no ther lug nut will fit. you can get custom ones to fit if you pay like $60

i could see two reasons why u would need tuner lugs.

first of all, the factory wheels and aftermarket wheels chances are gonna have a different seat for the lug nuts. you'd want to have the proper seat on the lug nuts if you really want the lug nuts to hold the wheels down.

secondly is just for space. many oem lug nuts are just way too big to fit into the area where the lug nuts go in some aftermarket wheels so you would need a lug nuts with a thinner profile like tuner lugs.

as for wheel locks, they make "universal" wheel locks. just like buying your tuner lugs, you should make sure they fit not only the wheel but the studs that the nuts would bolt onto. the dealer selling you the wheels and/or the lug nuts should point you in the right direction.

Awesome. Exactly what i needed to know! One more ?, those lugs look to be recessed, do they generally come with a tool, or will i need to purchase one?

if u buy a set of special lugs, they should come w/ a tool/key. here are my wheels w/ tuner locks (all lugs on my wheels are locks):
