Any tips & tricks in doing so?

some people say to brush the paint on.. I personally like to spray it after i have completed stripped the calipers of any rust. Then I put a high temp 1200 degree primer on the caliper then a high temp 1200 degree paint color of my choice. Then a high temp clear coat.

Good luck.

Did you use caliper paint? I checked one on autozone but I forgot the brand's name.

So the steps are:

1. Clean the calipers off the dust
2. High temp 1200 primer
3. Paint it
4. Clear coat it

Let me know if I'm missing something here.

Thanks!!!

i prefer to spray it on also. you just have to take the time to mask everything off.

first of all if you want to do this as quick as possible, i'd get all 4 wheels off the ground and get the car supported by jackstands. more on this later.

first i'd start at one brake, spray it down with brake cleaner. take one of those green souring pads you use for dishes and scrub the calipers with that. then i'd rinse off with the brake cleaner.

then i'd move onto the next caliper.

by the time i finish cleaning all the brakes, the first one i cleaned should be dry so then i mask off whatever needs to be masked off. and then i move onto the next caliper.

once back to that first caliper. i spray a light coat of paint. i usually just spray 500 degree duplicolor engine enamel. 1200 is nice but i haven't had any problems with 500 degree enamel plus it has a glossy finish compared to the flat finish of the 1200 that i used to use. so yea, paint, then go onto the next caliper.

i usually go around the car 2-3 time to make sure i get a nice coat on everything. i do light coats so that by the time i get to that first caliper again, the paint should be dry enough to put another coat.

once im done with that, i remove all the masking, put the wheels back on, making sure not to knick the caliper with the wheel, and then put the car back onto the ground.

then i'd go out on a short drive just to remove the typical overspray i get on the rotors and to help cure the paint.

Hey Pinoy thanks for the detail steps. I will print it out and start working on them sometimes next weekend. How long did it take to do it? From taking all the wheels off the car 'till the car back onto the ground. Do you have pics of how your caliper looks like now?

It took me 7 hours to replace pads and rotors!

Thanks!

Haha yeah I kinda took my time though (stopped at jerry's:D). Going back and fort to auto zone (1 st trip bought a 24 wrench, 2nd trip bought some screws since the rear rotors wouldn't budge so I had to put the screws into two small holes in it, 3rd bought the right screws size in order to do 2nd step LOL). Took an hour lunch break, too LOL.

@ furiousgtz your caliper looks nice. Does duplicolor has red color that looks like those brembos?

here is 1 of my dual piston calipers painted before it was installed on car

here is the same paint on my single piston calipers. these I sprayed paint in a cup and brushed it on, rather than removing from car or taping everything up

Yep, the duplicolor is definitely the shit for brush on. The kit includes everything and I haven't had to repaint my calipers in two years. But always start with Allan's method and do all four wheels at once and use lots of brake cleaner.

yea, first of all, my name is allan, and i live on the other shore of the potomac. i rarely travel to your side of the potomac just cuz of that damn bridge.

secondly, it takes me about an hour or so to paint calipers. a lil longer if there is paint there already. i find it better to remove the old paint and whatnot and start off with bare metal.

if you do one wheel at a time or two wheels at a time, it will take longer. go to walmart and get 2 pairs of jackstands for less than 20 bucks. if you do one or two wheels at a time, you'll spend alot of time waiting for stuff to dry.
