the 99-02 megan cat-back fits 03's, doesn't it?

Yes, it's still an 8th generation Galant. I bet it was just a typo.

okay...just wanted to be sure there wasn't a weird change in the exhaust system in the 03 model before i went to buy the cat-back. on megan's site it says 99-02.

thanks for clearin' it up :)

not too loud, nice deep tone, i love it.
short clip of how it sounds on my G:
http://s165.photobucket.com/albums/u43/run1206/?action=view&current=MyGalantMeganexhaust.flv

the silencer is good when i go cross-state and i don't wanna get drowned out by the constant tone. i can barely hear it when it's on, i'll make a video with the silencer on later in the week.

Has anyone that owns a Megan Cat-back actaully noticed HP Gain??
I have a Short ram Intake on mine, Im looking for headers and a Cat-back, just wanna know what would be the setup with the most HP gain and not so high on price.

when i installed the cat back, i also installed the headers and i left some gains. not too much but you can feel it accelerating faster...

  i really don't know the real gain from the exhaust, other than it being louder and better air flow, gotta do a dyno to confirm

thats because a lot of the civic guys just go to Auto Zone and get a can from there and weld it on. a Galant can sound the same if they have the same half ass parts... trust me, ive seen one in person....

what do u guys think about magnaflow street series mufflers? Do they sound ricey?

bmore303

Magnaflows are fine on Galants. Personally I'm using a 7 inch Round body that's not classfied under either "series." Nice deep tone that hasn't made any farts through the entire range.

Lol it's not as big as it seems. 7" in diameter isn't too much. Exact model I purchased.
http://www.planetmagnaflow.com/shop/magnaflow-14716-400.html

currently my cam AND phone are broken (back to the old school Nokia), but I'll see if I can grab my sister's and get a shot and video.

not recommended, might get too much back pressure, plus it's more weight. usually we go with either a single cat-back system, or a full exhaust with no cat (if your state allows it).

i think no cat would gain an extra hp or 2, though the sound would be huge though, lol
if you don't have to go to inspections in your state (or don't have inspections in the first place), then you can drive without a cat ( just don't get caught by the cops  )

for Jersey, we have inspections and we have to have a cat on. :?

no really a big difference though, but for some, every extra hp gain is important

interesttttingg :P once i get a engine swapped i will try to do a full exhaust no cat first if i like it i will keep it if not i can still switch back to single cat right???

i believe so, there's plenty of high flow cats for our cars out there on the web as well, if you do choose to go back to a single cat.

i'm not sure exactly how DMV does the standard readings on the cat, but the honey comb part of the cat might be neccessary for getting rid of some gases exiting the exhaust (don't quote me on that, not really sure). Hopefully in your case, it doesn't affect the readings since the cat is still on.

i'm not sure, but check our "for sale" section to see if angel (sleeper-vr4) is still selling his Megan cat-back in exchange for your stock exhaust setup.

300's a good price too.

SLS2000: i don't know any v6s that has the Megan cat-back, most v6s i know have Magnaflows on them. Still...just as good as Megan.

I have the V6 and I'm running a 3" hfc(basically no cat) and 3" from thee with no resonators to a turbo spec APEXi N1 muffler. sounds pretty beastly. I'm thinking about scrapping the turbo idea and going N/A build. SO I need headers and cams next.
