I eventually plan on doing a 5-speed swap, but for now i was looking at just putting a new automatic shifter in my car. I saw a few of the posts talking about the momo and the razo quick shift knob, but my question is will they still work sence mine is a side button and they are top buttons? And can someone walk me through it befor I do this slight mod? Thanks for all the help.

Yeah, but like it was said, I dont like how big it is. Is there anyone that knows if i can just buy any top mount button shifter or can it only be certain types?

try taking those two screws out of the currant shifter and see if the button stays there or not

idn dont mess up your car, but you could try that

if you remove the two screws, and if the shift moves up just a tad, the button will not stay there. more than likely it will shoot out. but thats nothing to be alarmed about.

a key thing when buying a new shifter is to make sure that the location for the retention screws are the same. ie. honda shifters won't work because the retention screws are on the side for honda.

you can use a lot of shifters out there if you fnd one post it and we will let you know, also the push part of the shifter is actually located on the top of the shifter when you change the shifter you can actually cut off some of the plastic triangle thing on top to make the shifter sit lower

i just ordered the razo quick shift and it is good to know that someone else has it. i like the looks of the razo quick shift the best and the fact that it has no button is really why i bought it. almost all aftermaket automatic shifters wil fit in our cars as long as they arent for ''gate style'' autos. i see that S-LINE has the razo quick shift, and i know a few people on here that have the razo super gun grip, so i figured if the super gun grip fits our 8g's than the quick shift would too since its made by the same company.

i got it a autozone. I think it was APC, but i'm not sure, but the thing is, if you want it to go all the way down like mine, your going to have to go to a machine shop and let them bore out like 1/16" out. it was too small to fit over the shifter assy.

this is the Ichibahn CRUZ series and ichibahn e-brake i had them in my last car, it fit without a problem and they have them for automatic and manual.

they r a little pricey but they are definitely worth it

Since the stock shifter has the button on the side, do you have to cut the plastic triangle underneath so it is straight before you install a new shifter?

pinoyesv6
08-20-2007, 06:09 PM
it totally depends on the shifter you get. some shifters you have to trim it all off. some you just trim some off. shifters like my custom one, you don't cut anything at all

That would be nice. I dont really want to do any trimming. Where did you get yours?
