I'm curious to see what the dyno numbers for these cars are stock or modified, in any form for that matter. Do these cars respond to bolt-on's, I know alot of cars that don't. I remeber back in the day my buddy had a '99 honda civic si w/I-H-E along with alt. power steering and crack pullies, and this was all top of line stuff (DC sports, aem, tannabe, etc etc) and the car dyno'd out at 141 hp, his bone stock dyno was 135. I know their is alot of reasons for this but that is just an ex. thanks for any reponses.

I don't know about anyone else but I know that I'm slow but seeing that I'm under 100HP on paper that'll just make me sell the car. So no I don't wanna know.

I dynod my V6 with headers, intake and exhaust and it was 155 hp. I would assume an I4 would be around 100hp.

115hp and 127tq

seeing that, i'm curious how my car would do with Megan cat-back, Outlander IM, SR intake, and reflash..... maybe 110 :?

Well Megan Cat Backs are what? 2.5in? So that is releasing some HP right there, along with your other mods you could be a little higher than me. I'm pretty sure we can squeeze out 130ish horepower with bolt ons and a 5-speed

What are the i4s rated hp and tq values?
Are the Galants really that slow?
Lastly... can it atleast beat an 'o4 auto civic vtec si?

i'm not sure, cuz i don't know what they're rated at either.
Plus with v-tech, i doubt if we have a chance, unless if the G was boosted.

well with my 103whp, it was on a dynopack dyno i hear thier more accurate some beg to differ but that number was with a full 2.5 catback, injen short ram, And 5-speed swap

Yeah a Civic SI Auto might give us trouble. I remember I raced a girl with an integra LS 2-door, and she beat me 2 out of 3. The vtec of those cars is pretty amazing. One the race I won it was by a little, I got the faster reaction time but I saw her on my side view mirror gaining on me, it's really incredible. But hey, at least you 9gens got MIVEC on your cars, which is the same thing. I wonder how hard it would be to swap a 4G63T MIVEC on a 9g

It would almost be worth it to buy the 4G69 mivec engine and put it on an 8g there about 130 to the wheels stock at least on an eclipse. So whats the deal w/ the 8g is it the fact that it is a standard run of the mill auto that we only put down ~100 whp? I mean shit thats almost as much crank to wheel loss as a RWD or even AWD.

DNSerrano
08-28-2007, 03:07 PM
Yeah the Automatic tranny is what is really robbing our power. If we had a better transmission that can put down most of the power to the wheels we can have a good 160hp car. Also are intake plenums are shit, so that takes power away from the engine. With that outlander swap you can see some results.

mattalicslvr8g02
08-28-2007, 03:11 PM
IMO the stock 4g64 is shit period no matter what tranny it is hooked up to

its only making something like 150hp to the crank so fromt he crank to the floor your loosing about 40-50 hp

Icedo had a exhaust, short ram and a 5spd swap and only put down 103, I really don't think the slush box auto is the real problem, its the N/A motor, that think is already maxed out at the factory like most japense I4's are.

lol thread is pretty amusing.
Earlier I was looking at reviews on the 8g 2003 ES i4. Click here (http://consumerguideauto.howstuffworks.com/1999-to-2003-mitsubishi-galant-6.htm) for link.

For others who are to lazy to click...
The site at consumer guide auto states...

Powertrain Options and Availability
DE and ES models had a 145-horsepower 2.4-liter 4-cylinder engine; the ES V6, LS, and GTZ got a 195-hp 3.0-liter V6. Both engines were offered only with a 4-speed automatic transmission. In 2002, the 4-cyl engine was newly standard on LS models.

i4 hp/tq: 145/155
v6 hp/tq: 195/205

No clue how accurate the information is though. And most obviously the hp/tq ratings are not at the wheels..

Might beat us? A civic Si will rape us. That thing is 197hp at the crank, so even if you factor in the drivetrain loss they'll hang with a V6 8G easy.

No good. The EVO intake manifold will not work with the SOHC head, therefore the outlander manifold wont work with the EVO head.

well, when it comes to power, i dont really want to mention it.
heavy 4door sedan with 140HP? of course we will get killed in terms of power.

but i love the bullet proofed 4g64 cast iron block. Sure damn reliable.
i like the reliability of the galant, and its cheap price, good value over all. pretty decent ride. i mean if I wanna go for power, i would go for the New Evo X when it comes out.
