this was an 'easier' retrofit. The housing wasnt cut up like last time. stock adjustment screws were kept and are fully functional.

I'll try to get better pictures tomorrow. The pics below are before I finished aligning the headlights. Alignment is pretty good right now. I got another set of JDM headlights coming in. I might go crazy with that one, but that's going to be a winter project.

here are some pics for now. I'll swap in my ultinons from the montero for tomorrows pics. Sorry the pics came out bad.

here's some picture I took of the project. It basically shows that the projector is mounted on the original reflector. I was first going to make a custom mounting plate, but I just got lazy...but in retrospect, I think, it would have made things go faster and easier.

I custom made the mouting brackets out of L shaped 1/8" aluminum. at the top right you can see a bolt that supports the projector from the rear. The bolt also is used to adjust the up/down tilt of the projector in relation to the reflector bowl.
http://tangonan.smugmug.com/photos/199648023-M.jpg

I then made a plate/shroud to cover up the rest of the projector. The bezel is from a chrysler crossfire. I painted it gun metal.

dam im kinda confused lol, so the piece on top is the low beam reflector, u cut the top amd back to fit the projector in there?? then made a bezel for the front, but i dnt understand how its controled by the top rite screw...did u install hids in there? they look lik u did or is it the lense

Yes I have HID.

I opened up the back of the reflector so the back of the projector can fit. The top cut was for the bezel. I threaded the top left hole of the projector. Then I put a bolt through the back of the reflector bowl then going to the projector. The way it works is clockwise=tilts projector up, CC = down. That adjustment is only preliminary alignment. Fine tuning of the alignment can be done when the headlight is all sealed up using the oem knobs.

I'll try to take some more night shots tonight. It's almost as good as that without the color mod...Im just bad in taking photos. I was tried to do the TSX color mod, but the output suffered a bit.

dude that looks so good. what kind of shrouds did you use? i am really jealous. so the color mod makes the output suffer? or was that just your result?

the color mod affected the output a bit. not too much, but it is noticeable. since I am already using 6000K, I didnt want to lose any more output. I'd rather have the 6000K white, than more purple/blue on the cutoff.

I used chrysler crossfire shrouds. almost a perfect fit. just minor mods to the shroud/bezel. the nice thing about crossfire headlights is that the shrouds of the highs and lows are the same. ..so you only have to buy one side to get 2 shrouds.

btw. nothing like having bnew ballasts. the output is so bright and white!!! sweet!

I would say about 15-20hours but a lot of time was spent planning and making sure everything lined up perfectly. Im about 95% satisfied with my work on these. I would really want to make them look 100% "OEM" I hope the next one I make is perfect.

racesnos

do you think that when i do mine (this will be my first retro) that they will come out 100% or is that dependent upon my own satisfaction?

ASTIG
09-30-2007, 07:03 PM
It really just depends on you.

I was searching for TSX retrofit and found this thread! Awesome retrofit man!

I hope you can still fix the build images since they are broken.. I'm looking at retrofiting mg jdm heads this spring time using TSX projectors..

Also what bulb type goes to the TSX projectors?

TSX Projectors use D2s bulbs. Do a search in this forum, I just posted a TSX retrofit about 3 weeks ago.
