i been looking around and i didnt find anything abotu the kia/evo head timeing for the cams, so my question is witch way do the marks on the gears point? i tryed pointing them at each other but they would make the exhaust and the intake valves open at the same time, i was planing on getting evo 272 cams for it and adjustable came gears, would that make the point differnt at a differnt place?

also when i tighten the cams down the valves come out about 1/8 inch why is that? i was thinking it was the lash adjusters..

anything will help thanks!

There should be a outside mark on the cam gears and they should be facing in the 12 o clock position..this represents TDC (Top Dead Center). You also have to make sure the crank and oil pump marks are lined up too.

Here is a VFAQ on how to set timing.
