Ok this may sound like a newb question. so im going to do a oil change today and i bought some seafoam to put in the engine to clean out any sludge. i went to take off the oil cap while the car was running, and there was air comming out of the valve cover. so my question dose that mean i have bad rings and blow bye or am i ok and its normal for there to be air comming out there. im lost and dont remember if that was a sign of blow bye or not.

You both realize this is in the 8G section right? ... And next time turn your damn engine off before trying to add anything to the oil. :smt011

Lol i relized that it was the 8g part i tried to delete the thread and move it to the 7g section but it wont let me delete the thread so... if someone would move it lol that would be kool. Oh Im taking that the air i was feeling was from vacume now that i think about it, just kinda freaked me out when i did it!

So you meant you actually took the oil cap off while it was running...that's what I asked the first time :| . Don't do that.

Lol Laxin I didn't even bother to look at the poster or avatar. Pretty general question, but belongs in the 7G section nonetheless.

Well your engine creates vaccum & pressure so when you removed the oil cap while the car is running you release the built up pressure & thats what you heard. Now stop doing that!!!
