Probably a stupid question, but I was reading up on this and was wondering if it could be done on our 7Gs.

Is our 7Gs TB the same as a 2G Eclipse TB(52mm)and if so could, is it possible to swap and put in a 1G eclipse TB(60mm)?

Must be from a June '90 thru 94 car ('91-94 model year). The correct one has 4 vacuum connections on the top of the TB facing towards the passenger side of the car. The earlier '89-May'90 TB has two fittings on the top and two on the front side, this one will not work. You will re-use your 2G Throttle Position
Sensor (TPS). The 1G TPS has only three wires while the 2G has four. The Idle Speed Controller
is the same between the cars. Â*

That posted in bold is a bit unclear to me. Let's see if Kain or Craig can decifer the meaning. Guys?

Actually, if the 7G uses the 4G64 I think you can adapt the 1G Eclipse throttle body to it. Anyone got some digital pics of the 7G throttle body, I'd be willing to take some of my 1G Throttle body, see if the vaccum lines match up.

copy that shortcut and paste it in a new browser and it will be enlarged

At first glance and comparing what I can see in the picture and my car, there are some differences. Although I'm not 100% sure if it's a show stopper. What I saw was that your TB has 2 fewer vaccum lines, and what appears to be at least a different location for the TB position sensor. What I need to do is track down a 7G in person (I think someone at work has one I can check). That or prehaps some more pictures some different angles (back side, mountaing bolts) would help. I'll go snap some pics in a few of mine so others can compare.

If you have room, the Intake manifold (may require the 4G63 head) and head should work as well. The 4G64 and the 4G63 are extremely similiar blocks, with only small modifications. In fact, lots of Eclipse guys have been getting 4G64 blocks to use in place of trying to bore and stroke the 4G63 out to 2.3 liter (and getting an extra .1 liter). Much better torque, faster turbo spool. Lots of interchangable parts between the Eclipse and Galant's with the I4.

If anyone is interested in this kind of thing, I can get pics of the Eclipse parts (1g and 2g) and you may find a few things that bolt right up for improvement. I know several 4G64 Eclipse owners (non-turbo 2nd gen spryder motors) who have collected pieces from the 4G63 guys and put turbos on the car, although it can be a bit of work.
