My "JDM"Galant G8 Sport Edition

Hey, my name is Thomas and im from Norway and heres my ride ;)

This is my Galant Sport Edition 2003 Euro-Spec, its almost the same as a VR4 but my car dont got the engine or the 4 wheel drive sadly enough :? The engine is a 2,0l 16v Singelcam 4G63! The gearbox makes this car fun to drive, if u push the engine to the max u will hit 120km/h in 2nd gear :smt026 and after some upgrades in the suspension the G handles wery well :cool:

Tnx guys :D This is what keeps me goin on! I apriciate it ;)The hood came along when the GDi and after 99 they started to put this type of hood on every Galant after 99. The center of the hood is much higher than the first hood and it looks so much better, The Momo wheel is exactly the same as in the VR-4 and Evo`s with an airbag :shock: Not many sport/racing wheels got that :lol: The car is getting coilovers next season along with a full repaint and some spacers for the wheels. The engine is another story. It got high milage so im not so shure if I wanna tune this that much. Im thinkin of gettin the Dohc top or something like that. Maybe from a Evo

We got so many taxes to pay to drive over here and even though they say the money is goin to build better and safer raods ist just goin to the pockets of politicians :roll: The food is wery similiar to the U.S actually and the people over 30 ar ejust dumb in traffic :roll: No turn signals and taking lane changes without turn signals. I could keep on writing down my complains but it seems to be the same all over the world. Assholes are a natural part of the traffic.
Its not as cold as many think, right now its 5c - 41 fahrenheit but now its night time so a bit colder now. In the summers we have 25++c - 77 fahrenheit ;) I live in the westside of Norway and only in North of Norway its cold.

When I was stationed in Okinawa, Japan, they had something similar with their cars. At the time, my military pay grade/rank (E-3) didn't allow up to have cars (because the people before us fucked it all up - young bastards) but for the people that did have cars, they told me that the vehicles were only good for something like 7 to 9 years, after that, you have to recycle your car. There were also high insurance rates and you didn't have to register it per year, but a couple years at a time or something. I live in California, which probably has the most strictest vehicle laws in our country. Our insurance laws are so dumb, that you could be charged less (or more) based on which city you live, even if it was a stone's throw away , you may end up paying $50 more because you're in a different zip code (in other words, a high crime neighborhood). I guess that would make sense - the insurance company doesn't want to insure or don't want to continue to pay out if you live in a bad neighborhood where statistically more cars are broken into or stolen, however, it's not fair. Most people I would believe, wouldn't want to live in a shit-hole neighborhood if they had the means to move out.

Japan has some very strict laws about their vehicles, I believe. I don't remember what it was exactly. It's not that after 7 or 9 years you have to recycle your car.. it's that after a certain amount of years the insurance and taxes on your vehicle becomes ridiculously high and just to maintain it and having it on the road costs so much that the Japanese just auction of their vehicles to other countries .. like the US and Canada and buy new vehicles. Buying a new vehicle overcomes the costs of maintaing their aging vehicles... Thats why when you import vehicle parts, cars or engines from Japan they tend to have low KMs on them.

Basically it's the same concept. The cost of the insurance is so high for an "older" car, that it would be best to turn the car in and get a new one after 7 years or so. Recycle. But hell, I haven't been there in almost 20years, I'm surprised I remembered that much.

The lines are AALMOST perfect, im gonne get new sideskirts and some fender flares so hte bumpers lines up much better ;) I love the steering wheel aswell, one of the main reason i buyed the car :lol: The colour on the car is special as well only 5 sedans in deep black in Norway 8)

Perhaps it's me, but with the U.S. Galant, even with the JDM parts added, for some reason there is still a slight difference to the outward appearance when compared to a real JDM Galant. The conversions are tight and I'm proud of all the guys that have done the procedure if I may say. It's really cool to finally see come to fruition.

I'd like how the JDM A.C. climate controls look.

In Europe we got the Sport edition wich is almost the same as VR4 but without the seats in some of the VR4s, drivetrain and engine. We also got an Avance version, this is a more luxurious car with the same apperance on the outside but on the inside its leather (wich i dont like), automatic (dont like that either :P) and the equipment is the same. The climate controll is not that good but its ok :P

My fogs are workin now finaly, they havnt been used in about 9months :shock: Also got my "Sport" wheels frommy summer tyres over to the winter tyres :) My new windshield is on aswell with a black sunscreen at top. Pictures comin soon :)

Just washed it on a cold winter day :lol: And the Mitsu delaer fixed my electronics for free :shock: So now everthing works and the sunntint looks great too :)

realy very very nice G8 ! i love the EDM versions ! i also drive one...

the eyeline look nice ! but it will be a problem to fit it to your headlights ! take a look at your signal and then look at the signal on the white one...
if you are searching for VR-4 headlights i can get some for (rightwaytraffic) Lefthand drived cars....

My 18" are now washed and polished and ready for the sun 8) Cant w8 to get em on again :) Maybe im gettin some coilovers wery cheap, a Totota tuner here has some coilovers for a Caldina GT-Four and if they are almost the same ass the ones for the Galant im buyin those for halfprice and they arnt even used. If somethings dont match he can modify them slightly :)

Finally got my VR-4 replica wing
Negative thoughts:
- Wiring from brakelight is just putted into the wing
- The wires is put into the wing on the wrong side and not on the side with the hole
- Its a bit diffrence between this wing and the VR-4 wing, the brakellight is on the edge on this one
- The brakelight has some gaps on both sides and its not inline with the wing

If u watch my pics of underneath the wing u se screws underneath ;) So on my replica wing i can take of the brakelight cover with no problem. U can cover upp ur wing and leave the brakelight cover open and just spray it ;) I use spray can ;)

My soundsystem is tested btw. 120db :cool: Wich is not bad since the RockfordFosgate subb is damaged :p After the test i adjusted it a bit so it played louder but when i used my own db messure eq i found out that it dosnt goes over 114db :smt005 Gonna test it again soon, just need to adjust the amplifier a bit aswell :)

If im payin things my self its cheaper :) The insurance companys buy brand new parts at the most expensive places. So far ive only payed 1/3 of the cost i had to pay the insurance. And i save the bonus :) My girl hit a car infront so its automaticly here fault :(

Yeah i got rid of the headlamp washers and the middle section underneath the bumper are removed aswell. THe red diamond on the grill are gonna be cleaned away.

why u got the 2 liter engine instead of the 2.5?? did the car come with avance features? in germany we only had GDI and V6 in avance shape but not the 2 liter engine.

Weird norwegians :rolleyes: In Sweden u could get em with 2.4 GDi and 2.5 V6.
But the thing with the cars u guys have is that u dont have the Momo steering wheel.
U have everything else thats in my G exept the steeringwheel.
In Norway we have:
Sport:
Blue/black interior, only manual, painted plastic inside in steel gray and Momo steering wheel.
Avance::
Black or brown leather seats, automatic only, treelookalike plastic and leather steering wheel.
The rest is the same on both cars and only with the 2.0l engine unless we import from Sweden or Germany. But the u wont get the Momo wheel.

thats weird indeed man...in the UK they even got a so called "classic" version...it has momo steering, blue/black interior, avance spoilers/lips and instead of climate automatic it has manual regulators...never seen in any other 8G version.
i love the momo steering wheel - got it too...and black leather, V6 and automatic/tiptronic though I do prefer manual transmission.

Jules: I preffer the l4 with manual than the V6 with auto since its actual slower than the l4 manual.
But if i find a V6 with manual or a GDi with manual for a low price and low KM im gonna swap engines.
If the GDi its a easy swap im gonna go for that since the 2.4l GDi is a DOHC engine and got the same tourqe. But the V6 has a great idle sound :)

The pre-facelift grill has been spraycan painted in the same way as the bumper. I dont know if im gonna keep this grill since it isnt made for my facelift Sport bumper. The facelift grill bottom half is goin more forwards and covering the massive gap under it. The pre-facelift grill has a huge gap between itself and the bumper. But its so diffrent compared to other EUDM Sport/Avance editions so i might go ahead and do it.

I fixed the piping of the A/C aswell.Only thing now is that for some reason the A/C dont turn itself on when its over 22 celsius outside. Pointless :orangeroll:

So overall my G is almost complete. The onlything after the crash is the dent on the right front side and the washerfluid container.
The VR-4 wing is hopfully dryed after painting tomorrow :) Cant w8 to get it on :pleasuremachine:

Sorry for the inactivity. Been busy on the Norwegian Mitsu Club latly, ordering calenders and planning car meetings. The rest of the spare time goes to PS3 online :jestera:
Nothing new on my G, but next year the rest of the rebuild after the crash is been done before the big annual car show in Bergen - Norway next spring. Need a new right fender front side, perhaps a new bumper (sick of repairing old cracks!) and the right grill for my bumper (facelift grill)
Also im still w8in for my eyelids i ordered from Goku. For some reason it get lost in the mail when arriving to Norway :(

And i need a asskick so i can start to do some smallfixes/upgrades on the G. Water leak in the trunk has ruined the floor carpet so that will be removed and a new floor made in wood is gonna be made.

Not much to update. Drivin on 15" winter rims since two tires is worn completly out. To new tires comin next week i hope :icon_biggrin:
I got a big amplifier in the car to power up the subwoofer and 2ch speakers in the front so i boosted up the db too about 140:bowl:
I also wired up some floor lights to the door light so it switches on when door is open.

Audio system update.
I got most of the things i need before i rebuild the trunk now. Only missing some covers on the back of the taillights and on the side. When i get those im gonna paint all the gray carpet black and rebuild the floor and isolate the wheel well and lay carpet down there. Spare wheel i dont have use for since im on 18" wheels.

I need to get my hands on regular EU spec heads and take out the reflectors change em with the JDM reflectors (is that the right word?)
The reflectors inside the JDM heads are lighting up the wrong side since the drive on the wrong side in Japan. For now ive adjusted the left one down so it wont bother oncoming vehicles
Im gonne use Meguiars plastic cover repair kit and fix up the plastic glass. Scratches everywhere :P

I might buy a new double DIN DVD/Nav player, its brand new and only test fitted once in a Saab.
It has:
- Bluetooth handsfree/music streaming
- MP3/WMA player
- DVD Player

RHD and LHD reflectors are praticly the same but lights up the road diffrent.

I might cutsomize em so i can use mye adjuster motor sp i can adjust the headlights from the inside of the G again. In Japan this isn required like it is in Europe.

Got my new tails from Taiwan

We discovered that these tails from AutoDepoLights E-Bay store are not original tails but replicas. The original is made by Koito and these had no branding on them or parts number from MMC.
But these looks better with a diffrent style when the lights are on

I also noticed that the glass on the Taiwan tails are thinner aswell but they fits just as good as the stock ones :)

My stock tails are from Koito and are 100% the same as they have in Japan. Perhaps Koito made some changes?? Are u shure ur tails are from Koito? Do u have the parts number? Starts with MR on the back of the tails

A guy hitted my G the other day while reversing. Caught him doin it! He was actually trying to drive off! (Look at nr 4)

I hitted a big iceblock while driving in the dark so i didnt see it. Its only a crack and the paint is chipping of because the bumper is to flexible.
Hopefully im getting this fixed when the two next points are beeing fixed.

The person that hitted my car gave me a fake ID and the car he drove wasn't he's car. The cops have dropped the case a long time ago so I had to fix it my self.
So I bought a wagon I could use while I fixed up the Sport. Due to work and issues between me and my kids mum I haven't done much. It's not road legal anymore because the states driving department fucked up with roadtax payments the police took my license plates.
Also my coolant is leaking out right outside the firewall because the pipe that goes into the heating for the fan in the car have to be replaced. It bursted 2 winters ago since it was about -25c outside and my coolantmix was for -15c :-/
So I'm parting out the wagon next year so I can replace the following parts:
- Front bumper. Old one is cracked
- Sideskirts. My ex scratched up one side and the other side was scratched when I bought it.
- Some interior parts
- New splash shield under the engine
- New pipe for coolant I the heatingunit

Jupp. Now she have no wheels on only standing on struts or what the hell it's called in English :-P W8in for the outside temp to raise a bit more so I can start to take our the dashboard.
I'm gonna send my coilovers to a shop for overhauling if the price is good. Repaint is getting done when I'm done parting out the wagon. Hopefully I get enough cash for the repaint then. Dunno if I'm gonna wait with the engine swap (4G63 to 6G72). Time will show. I only hope I can prioritize the G enough to get her ready for the annual car show in may-june

6A13 without TT and DOCH so it's not that much For The Win :-P I want the 3.0 DOHC engine with 200hp from Sigma/NA 3KGT but the gearbox us on the wrong side. Eventually if Mitsubishi Norway stops beeing retarded and car customization rules here in Norway gets loosened up I want to throw in a 6A13TT with AWD :-D Or I could settled with the DOHC 4G63T from Evo 7-8-9 :-P
6A13 and 4G64 GDi (DOHC) are the two other engines besides the 4G63 that came in the G8 in Europe. There was also a horrific diesel engine but that wasn't sold in Norway :-P
I really want the GDi since it has great powerband. 225nm at 3.500 compared to the V6 with 224nm at 4.500 :-) But that engine is hard to find in good condition and it need TLC all the time since it does not like the octane we have here. The fuel quality in Japan is much better. The problem is that in the intakemanifold its getting clogged up with soot.

Hit and runs are the worst..I've witnessed 3. All were parked cars, and one was a police car outside of court..not to mention the police station is next door lol. Sorry to hear about your situation, that's a nice wagon you picked up for the meantime.

Oh, I see about the 6A13. Well, if you don't mind uprooting your life an coming to the US, our customization laws are easier to deal with, but we don't have cool legnums and worldspec Galants either though.

U could atleast rebuild one to world-spec and still stand out. Over Here its swarming with Galants with VR-4 look so it takes more to stand out from the crowd :-P

Not much done here sadly. I've changed the front fenders and changed the heating core for the heating unit. And I'm most likely gonna overhaul the gearbox again since for some reason a hole in the clutch house appeared and I don't know what happened. So I'm gonna pull the gearbox apart and check it out. Got also an electric issue so I have to change the dynamo most likely. The red wagon i have is being parted up anyway so I'm gonna take the dynamo from that car :-)

Getting rid of two chassis that's been filling the garage. So when she's inside there i can start changing a few stuff like the alternator, ac kompressor.
Also I'm takin the two pot front brakes from my old V6 wagon and putting em on the Sport.
Still can't start the car since I haven't been able to transport it to the Mitsubishi dealership to code the new keys. That will hopefully be sorted within this year.
Have also a new gearbox case since the current one still has a mysterious hole innit so u can actually look inside the clutchhouse [emoji14]
