Well my front motor mount was bad, which would cause the engine to tilt WAAAAAY back and rub if you pressed the gas too far on takeoffs. So I got me a hammer handle, 1 foot of tow strap and some wire, and went to town. I put the tow strap from the top of the motor mount, to the bottom, used the hammer to twist the tow strap tight, and then used the wire to tighten in the hammer so it wouldnt come loose... give me a few minutes and I'll post some pics from my camera phone, beware, bad quality!! Oh, and I'lll post some pics of my mesh I put in the front too, screws are still visible till I have time to put in the wire...

i would get a new one as soon as you can, this is not a good fix....you can get the nserts for all the mounts for like 80 bux...you can install them yourself they are just a pain in the ass and take a while

Well I am from Texas... and I barely have enough money to make my payment, whats the point of fixing it and then having the car repo'd? This is a very temporary fix, but you should have seen the engine flex before I did this... it looked like it was trying to jump out of the car.

... just trade your Galant in for something else if you can't afford to maintain it.

Edit: I'll do you one better, I've got a spare front motor mount. It's been filled with 3M Window Weld for extra strength, but that won't last very long. Pay me for shipping and it's yours.

How much is shipping bro?

I really honestly have no money until my paycheck comes in... My 250 is going towards my car payment, my uncle gave me 20 bucks for gas. I'm just in a weird stage of life right now, this is a temporary fix, I just thought some people would think it was funny. I would really like to wait until I can buy the motor mount from you, really.

I just hit 35,000 miles today. My cousin bottomed the car out a few times while he had it, actually bent the bracket the motor mount bolts on to... And yes I was asking about turbo'ing my car, so what? I'm planning for the future, and researching as much as I can before I start buying anything. I'd like to know what I'm getting myself into, so I ask as many questions as I can. :D

I just had to replace all my motor mounts and have to do the tranny mount too. Just cuz I slacked on 1 bad one.
You should fix that one asap. Having 1 bad motor mount puts stress on the other ones and makes them wear prematurely.

If that one is bad, chances are the back one is bad too. They cost 39 bucks at dealer each, front and rear, the sides are more expensive. Good idea to replace all 4 at once but in yourcase, at least the front and rear or you run the chance of cracking your intake manifold or worst. I agree, maintenace is important and is necessary if you want a reliable car. Go pawn something worth 100 bucks, get your parts and then get your stuff out when you have the cash. I ve been there but I did whatever it took because my car was and is my feet, thats what got me to and from work.

what happens when that hammer flicks out and flies towards you?

Waiting until the motor mount bracket breaks is just wrong... if you didnt have the money for a motor mount, you should have gotten around without the car until you could afford a $20 motor mount....
