Ok. Im kinda getting nervious now. i just got done setting my valves. And 2 of them leak pretty bad, But the other 12 work fine... I dunno, I think i have a bent valve, i have resurfaced my valves 2 times, and i dont think they are going to work, i was wondering if anyone else had any ideas of why my valves are leaking other than them bieng bent. I have lathed them in, and they are set all way round. But just dont pressure check.....
I have spent every dine i have into this motor. And im not going to have any more money available for a while. Any ideas ? I not only want, i need my car running again... lol, anyone got 2 valves sitting around they can over night me ? lmfao.... Arg... I dont get paid till next month. Bah humbug ! lol. I just hope my car is running soon, everyone says im doing a good job.... But i just hope everything goes smoother than it has thus far. Wish i woulda had enuf money left over to buy a 5 speed tranny. Lol. My auto is going to be cooked after this. Was way strong, but i dont think it will hold up.

All tore apart.

i forgot the main purpose of my post. I have something happening in this cylinder... Anyone think its fuel related Like injectors ?

http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p110/eclipse97526/11-16-07_1955.jpg

This corrosion was way lighter, and difrent color than the other valves. And had a funny looking pattern to it ...; not enuf fuel ? bad injectors ? something ? any ideas ?

From the pic it looks like bad valve stem seals leaking oil into the cylinder.

Yes, definitely replace the valve stem seals, they are cheap, youd be dumb not to replace them at this point. And at least clean the lifters so they will not tick. Mine had developped a slight tick, I removed them all, cleaned them per the FSM, no more tick. 25k miles later, still no tick. The tick will eventually come back, but they will be tick free for a long time.

I wasnt burning any oil, it looks like it was almost pre-igniting, or burning with not enuf fuel. I got them all sealed up and everything, i got new seals and everything, i only forgot a cam oil seal, so i re-used my old one, because of lack of funds. :( I plan on buying a new motor and really building it, strokin it etc. But that will come later. Im going to try just cleaning my injectors, and seeing if that helps, i can swap them out later no prob. And the rockers and lash adjusters all need replaced. So im going to have to buy a new one. they say, Do not replace just one, the Whole unit must be replaced. So im just going to get it running again cause i miss her, And ill redo the rocker arm assembly later when im sitting better off, and cant afford a revised version.

I tell you what... just because...... i have love for my tgc brothers.. if you find out that the valves from a 7g will work in a 8g ill ship the ones out of my old head to you free of charge you pay shipping. Ill just need a couple of days because im preoccupied with an intrepid...... But.... If they work. they are yours.. Ill ship valves, springs and retainers the whole 9 yards.... Just lemme know!

Wow really ? Im not sure if they work. is it the 2.4 l SOHC 7g ? or is that the 4g63 motor ? the 4g63 valves and retainers ae too big :( the 2.0 l engine has shorter fatter vavles clips and springs.

im not really pleased with how thoes last 2 valves came out, i dont think there bent, i think they were just seated wrong, after 3 lathe attempts, i finally got them all to seal, and hold fluid 100 % not even a drip coming out of ay valve. i was told when i bought my parts that if it were not burning oil or smoking there was no need to even bother with retainers, but when i spoke to my friend, she said otherwise... now my manual is even lying to me, and i dont know if i should belive it, its telling me tourq specs for a 10 bolt pattern, and it is a 12 bolt rocker arm assembly. and this is going to be fun, getting thoes rocker arms in there, im guessing just slowly tourqe it down, and rotate the cam, relieve pressure on every bolt, till its to spec, but i dont know what order to tighten my bolts =\

What do you mean by how they came out? Were they difficult to get out of the guides or did they not turn out well?

If they didn't simply fall out of the guides, they are bent or the guides are royally fucked.

naw they slid out of the gides okie, they didnt just drop out, but just a little tap and they slid out, I mean. Well i did everything lol, from re-grinding the angle on the valves and everything. there were 3 of 16 that leaked. Then i re/ ground and lathed 3. only 1 was bad still, i had to grind it down again. It was just really narrow, i wasnt happy with it, it should be perfect. But it didnt leak even a drop of water, I fixed even the slightist leak, So if it pressure checks, everything should be all good ?

Its the SOHC.. Find out dude.. Its a deal of a lifetime.. As for the rocker arms.. its simple.. First make sure you dont have them flipped 180 degrees like i did and the lashers didnt oil causing my car to sound like a diesel.. But anywho.. Hand tighten all bolts. Then start in the middle, tigthen that one down and pretty much start like this (i dont remember if its 7 bolts or what im not sure but here is how i did it making sure not to tighten each bolt to much) 7-5-3-1-2-4-6 this is just to show you.. Start in the middle work your way down from left to right, left to right, etc.. youll probably have to do this more than once until everything settles and i believe final torque is somewhere like 23 ft lbs... Fairly simple... The biggest bitch is getting the valve springs and retainers back on.......

Good luck and lemme know whats up...
