Hey Guys & Girls,

I'm a Newbie on here so be easy :P... I bought a GLOWING AC HVAC Gauge/Panel off eBay, but it didnt come with instructions for wiring. There's just a positive and negative wire that needs to be hooked up. Simple enough, but unsure of good a connection site.

So any ideas, input, suggestions on where I can connect the positive and negative wire to? Without having to make a long trail of wire behind the dash? If not then what's the best route?

I searched for this topic and didnt find it, if this has already been posted, then "My Bad". Thanks...

Pretty much the install would be to tap the positive wire into something that only works when the car is on, like the cigarette lighter, and ground the black wire. Or you can add a switch inbetween as well and be able to turn on and off when the car is on. Or you can run up to the dimmer control like it shows in the tutorial that I posted above and when you turn your headlights on and the interior lights come on the hvac will light up as well

i did this...

umm...take the hvac out...and one of the plugs in back of it is what you tap into. can't remember which wires and all, but...it's there...i believe it might be a plug w/only 2 wires...

the thing is...they dim also with the dimmer knob being turned...that is why i think the link to the gauges "might" be wrong. cuz...the gauge link doesn't make the gauges dim also.

first of all, im assuming oyu got something like this

with that said. you would probably need something that turns on with like the parking lights but doesn't dim. the reason I say that is because faces like those run on AC current and not DC current. the inverter box converts the DC current from the car and supplies AC current to the face. so you'd want to give it the full 12v. a good inverter box should give you control over the brightness.

two places would come to mind on a place that doesn't dim. the parking light itself and the dimmer switch.

if you don't want to run power across the car and you have a relay, i'd just use like the original AC light's power wires as a trigger and use the cigarette lighter as the power.

Alright, well I don't have a relay. Should I really buy one? But the face has a flat wire that it runs from, to this little box inscribed [Epicenter], which then has the positive & negative wire that runs from it. Any idea what that is? It has no controls on it, just double sided tape fro mounting.

So how would I "...use like the original AC light's power wires as a trigger and use the cigarette lighter as the power" with one power wire?

no i don't...but i'm pretty sure one of the plugs in the back of the hvac only has 2 wires connecting from it. that would be the one iused...it's been a very long time since i took thta out.

Thanx everyone for the input. I ended up splicing into the illumination wires for the HVAC which are Black/Yellow & Green/Red. Works great! I also installed the AC Autotechnic S7 Gauges, I love the way those look 2. I'll post up some pics when I have the chance. Anyway thx again!

so does the hvac dim like mines do?? and if so, did you get the gauges to dim also?

My HVAC does dim, The S7 gauges themselves dont. But the needles and the backlighting from the original gauges dim, so it gets a lil dimmer but not really. Appreciate the help again.
What I did to find out which wire was which, was looked in my Chilton Repair Manual for the Galant, and looked up the wiring diagram. It helped alot, that book is Gold for $16! I've used those books on every car I've had, & have saved a lot of money!
Anyway here's the pics, I took some pics of what I did to my door panels too. I painted the door handle bezel Pearl White, and put the woodgrain overlay accents on 2. I like it personally, so I'm happy. Here you go:
