Well when I bought my car, it only came with one key. I got a spare made but it is just if I lock my keys in the car since I did not pay the like $100+ for an encoded key. Anyone get one of those keys off ebay then they send you a name of someone who will program the key for $60? Any other ideas would be appreciated, I am a bit paranoid about only having 1 key that can start the G.

I know someone that got another key made through street keys. I know you can find them on EBAY and if you search the web as well. You get the blanks in the mail and they tell you shops that are local to you to get them cut and programmed. And it costs much less than at the stealership

if im not mistaken as long as you have one ENCODED key, (should if you 2000 and above) you can go and have it cut somewhere but you can program it yourself. I THINK the instructions are in the ownders manual. Ill have to look and C

Im pretty sure that it just has to be in the car somewhere for the ignition to turn the car on. So maybe find a spot to keep the encoded key in the car and use copies of regular keys to have it work this way? Possible? Well now that I think about it, that would just make the car easier to steal. Hmmm anyone else have any ideas as to how to avoid the dealership price?

im telling you that a regular key will work!

I have no encoded key in my car anywhere, and it starts every time.

hmm well maybe yours is really a 2000 then. mine was built in 98 and maybe the actual build date has something to do with it

I have been lookig for a while now for a 02 ES chip key, and have come to accept that I will need to go to the dealership for such a thing. They quoted me $250-$300. It's not priority on my list right now, maybe when I decide to upgrade my alarm.

ebay has encoded keys and if you buy it they give the names of people who can program them in your area for only $60. So all together you could 2 keys for what the dealer "quoted" you at.
