I just got my car lowered yesterday and was going to get 18's which I know a lot of you guy's have. But I got to looking and there is a bar above the rear wheel, what is it? And if it isn't going to be in the way could I fit 225/40/18 with a 1.5" drop? Thanks for all of your help!

My car is lowered 3 inches and so I cannot have anyone sit in the back because if one person sits down in the back the bar is touching the tire. Not good lol. So I have a 2 seater Galant now https://www.thegalantcenter.org/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_lol.gif

It's probably the control arm or something...I'm not good with suspension...or car parts in general for that matter.

225/40zr18 w/ 1.5 drop? no problem assuming ur wheels are close to +45 and less than 8" wide. i have 18"x7.5" +45 wheels w/ a 2.0"+ drop on 225/40zr18. click my sig for pics of the fit.

They will fit either way but you will be close to rubbing if the rims are wider than 7.5" and the offset isn't close to stock. I have 18 x 7.5 with 215/40 with a 1.5" drop with no problem. Check the link in my sig for pics. By the way the offset on my rims are +38.

First off, that is the knuckle that's basically the rear suspension's pivot point. I can atest to Reelax's fitment. I was wondering how much clearance he had with 18x7.5 with those size tires and a drop. I can fit no more than a finger between the tire and the knuckle. Can't get more perfect than that. Now depending on the amount of drop, what manufacture of tires you use (even though it's the same size), the amount of offset and also whether or not you have a camber kit, your mileage will differ. Too many damn variables but at least it's something to go by. https://www.thegalantcenter.org/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/thumb.gif

I'm rolling on 18"x7.5" rims with a +42mm offset and 225/40/18" tires. I am dropped 1.8" in the rear and I only get rubbing on the fenders when people are in the car and I hit a dip in the road at like 65mph. By myself I hardly ever rub, really only when I hit a dip at like 80mph+.

Lol, there is a sticky with all the info you will need, what will fit, what wont. Might want to check that out... It is under the suspension wheels/tires forum.
