Mitsubishi this weekend announced the Lancer Ralliart — the latest addition to the Lancer family. The car is powered by a new 2.0-liter DOHC MIVEC intercooled and turbocharged engine that develops an estimated 235 horsepower. The engine is mated to Mitsubishi's Twin Clutch-SST gearbox, featuring manual and automatic shift modes.


The Lancer Ralliart is positioned between the regular Lancer sedan and the new Evolution X. The car is visually distinguished by a more aggressively styled front bumper design, rear bumper cover, dual outlet muffler and a lightweight aluminum, ducted hood that delivers cooling air to the turbocharger.

The Lancer Ralliart's full-time 4WD driveline features Mitsubishi's Active Center Differential (ACD). The ACD unit employs an electronically controlled multi-plate clutch center differential, vectoring drive torque to the front and rear according to different driving conditions.

Available equipment and options to include: Recaro seats, HID headlights, 650 watt Rockford Fosgate 9-speaker audio system, Sirius satellite radio, power sunroof, and a 30 GB Hard Drive Navigation system.

Hopefully they can convince buyers that the ralliarts gearbox is stronger than that of the WRX or they are going to have alot of competition.

Yes...the differences though is that the Lancer Ralliart doesn't have all the aluminum body paneling on the roof, rear quarter, front fender, etc etc, the wider fenders. I don't think this will hurt the Evo sales wise since Mitsu is aiming the Lancer Ralliart and the Evo X to 2 different markets. Another thing is this positions a stronger brand image for mitsu and the Lancer. The Lancer Ralliart is much more appealing performace wise (If priced just right) comparted to a Civic Type R, RSX Type R, Mazdaspeed 3, Sentra SE-R, Cobalt SS, etc etc. Basically in the lancer's class...its the only AWD "performance" model in its class, which if you think about it is a smart marketing move.

Its a nice package and certainly a nice option for a budget "tuner" buyer that can't afford the Evo X. I hope it does well! 8)

One thing I like that Mitsu did with the Lancer to the X is they used the same 4B11 motor. Regular Lancer owners should be able to use the same parts off of a RA Lancer to an EVO X...

That's pretty tight. They don't look too different, either. Evo-Light. I like the front end better on the RalliArt version. Put a boost controller on it and that sucker will be hanging with the X.

wow. i cant see why anyone would want to be an evo then..
depending on the price difference that is...

cause the only thing that matters on that list is brakes and hp and brakes arent to hard to upgrade, and dont cost THAT much..

I see on the Ralliart they gave it the Evo MR grill with the chrome trim, the GSR does not have the chrome accent.

-Majority of the Evo X sheetmetal body panels (roof, quarter panel, fenders, etc etc) is aluminum. The Ralliart just has the aluminum hood that is shared with the Evo X.

-Evo X motor has more HP and torque

-Evo X has S-AYC where the Ralliart has fulltime AWD with no Yaw control. Lancer Ralliart will basically have the same USDM AWD drivetrain as the Evo VIII-Evo IX.

-Evo X has big Brembos...Ralliart doesn't, but has dual piston fronts.

-Evo X has bigger brake rotors

-Currently no option for a manual transmission for the Lancer Ralliart, only the SST transmission

-Evo X has forged aluminum suspension pieces while the Ralliart doesn't.

-Evo X has the more "aggressive" body pieces.
