The Mitsu dealer I buy my parts from is suppose to get a batch of them in the next 2 weeks or earlier. A couple of "tuner" shops have already got their hands on a Evo X, so it won't be soon after you'll see aftermarket parts for it. HKS and ARC have been making alot of aftermarket performace upgrades available already...so aftermarket support will be there. I am looking forward to test driving one when they arrive.

Aftermarket support will be heavy for the X and what I like is the fact that the Lancer, Lancer RA, and the X share the same motor. So IMO you could buy a base lancer and wait for some parts from the X owners when they upgrade and you will have a damn fast Lancer...

Here is another thread about HKS, ARK, and a few other companies photo's of parts for the X...

In Chicago very few dealers will let you test drive an EVO. Will they let you in SF?

Like mine!! :)

So at dinner tonight we were talking about the Evo X and my wife says I cant customize it or do anything to it. I remember she said the same thing about the Galant...I guess I will have to convince her that sometimes oil changes take a few hours and get my wheels put on, then tell her it needs a tune up, and get the suspension done, then tell her the check engine light is on and that the only way that will go away is to put on the much lighter CF hood. I played these games with the Galant. :)

I am waiting for the auto with the paddle shifters and that is 35999 with about 5K on the dealer markup. I am waiting too for the markup to go down. The GSR 5 speed is starting at 32995. I believe the Ralliart which is still a good deal for the money goes for around 25k-26k, and that comes with AWD.

1) did a credit check
2) had a $5k deposit
3) signed a letter of intent to buy the car.

It was the GSR Model.
$32,990 Base
$36,054 +Options
$41,053 +Dealer Markup

It seemed very well constructed. The interior was nice, but still on the cheapo plasticy side. The Recaro seats were very very nice. Was interesting that the battery now resides in the trunk, along with the washer fluid reservoir, and what looked like a brake fluid reservoir.

Dealer said they had already sold one.

I drove by the Mitsu dealer on my way to Home Depot and they had 6 Evos out front, I stopped and took some pics which I will post up tomorrow. They even had a blue Evo with a bodykit on it already. Also the "Adjustment for Demand" was 1995.00 which was not bad at all. Asking price ranged from 32995 to 38995 which included the site and sound package. I am still holding out on the MR though.

the wheels don't look right. I wish they used BBS again or OZ Supperlarga in style wheels. At least the 18s. They look like 17s to me. The old wheels look better imo. Can't wait till these get in the market, so I can get a 07 EVO MR.

Tonight I took my DD down and a wad of cash to see what kind of deal I could get and to be honest, I got a smokin ass deal on the Evo and I was quite surprised how desperate they were to deal.
1. I demanded they remove the "increase for area demand" of 1995.00 which they did.
2. I demanded that I was not going to pay what they wanted and beat their asses all the way down to 500 above invoice.

Did I buy it? No. I did not like the colors they had, the dark red, blue or the dark grey. I wanted it in either white or black which they did not have at any of their stores, but I said find me a white or black and keep the same offer and I could buy. This was for the GSR with site and sound package and I really want the MR which he said would be out around the end of May but he said they were going to ask 39k to 41K for those with 4000.00 dealer markup. The main purpose was for me to test drive it too which when he saw 20K in cash I had on me, they let me drive it. It handles real nice and takes the corners nice, I could tell by the ass dyno that I will def. get in big trouble with this car. Took it on the freeway and it is real quiet compared to the 8 and 9.

Getting a good price of a Evo X is hit or miss it looks like...more like a miss though. I have seen people that bought their X's already paying 40k and that just a regular GSR with the Aero package. Thats a bit much...I rather wait to be a 2nd owner of a Evo X and buy it with the depreciated price. Some are getting a bit over dealer invoice, but those dealers are probably high volume mitsu dealers that want to move alot of cars and get Mitsu dealer incentives at the end of the month, compared to low volume dealers that dont sell alot and need to make up for it on the bottom end.

The GSW 5 speed tranny is said to be a stronger and beefed up Evo IX tranny which was already and strong tranny. Several people are stating that is shifting is notchy especially on 2nd gear on low rpms but not a issue on the higher rpms. Much like the higher performance cars that are manuals...they suffer from the same issue with their beefed up trannies. No one has taken apart a Evo X tranny yet..but from sources from Mitsu that was gathered and posted, they claim the Evo X 5 speed gear box is a "Stronger Improvement" from the previous generation. Who knows...its too early as its hasn't been exposed to real world drivers and conditions.

I am liking what I seeing and reading on reviews from owners and power potential from shops that have already started working their magic on the new 4B11t. AMS has been hard at work on their Evo X, making tons of parts for it with just owning for a short time.

I finally got to test drive a Evo X today. Every Evo X that had came in was presold and of course they wouldn't let any test drives with presold units. They had 1 evo that wasn't sold yet so my a salesman that I have been cool with ever since I started shopping for my fiance's Endeavor gave me a call. Called me up yesterday to come by today to take a test drive on the only unsold Evo X that was coming off a truck this morning. I showed up early and he met up and he had already had the keys in his hands and had it parked towards the back.

It was a Graphite Grey GSR with the site and sound package with the navigation, but no aero kit. Mitsubishi has stepped up their game on the Evo in almost every aspect I can think of. The interior is a step WAY up from the previous generation. The materials used are super nice and clean. I don't know why some of the people that "seen the car in person" say the plastics used still look cheap..but IMO they aren't. The placement of the shifter, A/C controls, and overall any of the controls of the car are soo user friendly. The gauges are light years better than the previous Evo....its a work of art just to look at. The M/T shifter doesn't look as nice as the previous generation Evo, but I like how its placed.

The Recaro's are sooo freakin nice. The lateral support is better than the previous Evo Recaros, but personal opinions on this will vary depending on body sizes. Top notch stitching and materials..but the Evo IX Recaros look more visually appealing compared to the X. It seems Mitsu did there homework and considering the interior doesn't seem alot bigger than the previous Evo, it has more leg room and feels a bit more "spacious".

Now when you test drive the car and you are actually driving this beautiful piece of machinary is where you can make the day and night differences of the Evo X and Evo VII/VIII/IX....especially if you have owned one previous or have rode or drove a previous Evo enough times to know how the car really was. The Evo X is SOLID...i mean its is quiet inside, almost high end luxury car quiet. Compared to the previous Evo's...the car feels much more better and bolted tightly where the previous Evo felt like a tin can with rattles randomly here and there. Steering feel is very responsive much like the previous Evo...you feel like the car is communication with you still. We took some inner city road turns and 2 on ramp and off ramp highway turns at decent speeds enough to get a "real" feel of the car. This thing GRIPS like hell....and understeer is a word erased within the Lancer Evolution X vocabulary and even with hard corning, and turning the car manages to stay solid.

Now for the motor impressions. The car feels awsome on straightline acceleration..but doesn't feel as fast at the previous Evo's, but that is most likely due to its heavier weight, but easily fixed with a 20hp gain. When boost hits...it has a nice and consistant linear powerband which feels SWEET but then again I liked the raw boost "whiplash" you got with the previous Evo in STOCK form. Then again we didn't fully go crazy with the powerband because there is a breakin period. The highest RPM we hit was 5000rpms and that was only on 4th gear, babying 1st-3rd gears. Even with the fly by wire throttle control...it still feels like it was cable. There wasn't no "delay" throttle response...it felt good.

I can't say enough about the Evo X.....after test driving I am pretty much sold and over the fence on deciding whether to buy a X or a IX. It is a awsome car and if you are impressed already from what you read and see about what owners say about their Evo X and all the 4b11t response to mods already from AMS, Turbotrix, Vishnu, AGP, etc shops with their shop Evo X's....go out and test drive one and you will solidify your positive impressions that you may have from reading and seeing from those that are lucky enough to own one now.

When I was done and got back into -G-rim, I already felt spoiled with the better build quality, technology, and modern engineering and design of the Evo X that it was more that obvious that before I drove the car that -G-rim was a OLD car and my Galant VR4 was even older. In all honestly though with all the great things I said about the Evo X, my 7g is still fun the drive...you can't beat the feeling of a lighter car and being able to toss it around and how it feels. With my 91 Galant VR4...well, while the Evo X is MUCH MORE refined power....there is that unbeatable feeling of RAW power nastiness my Galant VR4 displays when boost hits.

My next car WILL be a Evo X and I can't wait till that day. I guess I will have to start saving my pennies and hopefully next year i will own one.
