to make this a helpful thread instead of bashing, something it has become, lets just say this.

3G seats fit perfectly in the car. make sure you dont or do have airbags before your purchase your new seats, and make sure to hook up the srs wire or the system will have to be reset at a dealer.

Leather or Cloth will be fine, you choose

there. thread DONE

I have black leather on mine. All you need is to black vynl the rear seats to match. If you can unbolt the stock seats pretty sure you can install 3g seats just as easily. All you need is a power wire and a ground wire for the power seats. I'll post pics as soon as I return from Laugh-me-yet.

It's not hard to install but according to his testiment it feels plush and comfortable compared to the 8g version. Now, that's just the cloth seats, let me tell you how uuber those leather seats are... 8) I'll post them on Monday

idn if i want leather tho, i could go leather 3G front and leather 8G back, how hard is it to install and uninstall the back seats? i know my bench seat is already sort of broken bcuz it doesnt line up to lock down right, so i know how to take that out

Wasn't it established that the rear seats were to wide for the 8G? I thought I read that somewhere.... :?

im not discussing the 3G rear seats, only the fronts, i dont recall why the rear wouldnt fit, id assume too small since the car is not as wide, or maybe it just looks that way

So whats the advantage, more side bolstering, and do they sit lower, that might make it worth it for me, if they sat lower.

super simple. the back seat lower just has 2 clips, and the back seat upper is held in w/ 3 bolts which are exposed after you pull the lower. it should not take more than 10 minutes to pull the entire back seat out.

I've got the 3g seat bottom in my Galant. I ended up keeping the stock seat back and frame and bolting the 3G seat into it. I did this in order to keep the side airbag functional. My 3g seat didn't have side airbags, but my Galant does. If you have the side airbags make sure you get seats from an airbag car. I do like the 3g seat much better than the Galant one. It is softer and better shaped. What I need to do is get a grey leather seat bottom and recover the seat bottom. Now it looks a bit odd because the seat bottom in black and the top is grey. I've talked with a leather seat company and they wouldn't sell me just the bottom leather though.

how do i know if i got side airbags?

fliegendaffe
01-21-2008, 02:14 PM
it should say it on the side of your seat I believe.

01-21-2008, 02:17 PM
alright, ill take a look before i do pick up anything

or does anyone know the specific models that have airbags, let me know

keithert
01-21-2008, 02:29 PM
The LS and GTZ have airbags, some of the ES's do too. The ES has manual seat adjusters while the LS and GTZ have motorized. The upper models of the Eclipse seats also have the motorized adjusters. If you get a seat with a motor and your car is not motorized you will have to wire the car for the electric seat.

99 galant

thats why im getting non motorized seats

but thanks for reminding me just incase, it helps

I believe it will say SRS on the side of seat if it has airbags.

ok so i just checked and i do have srs airbag

what can i do about this and still get new seats?

keithert
01-21-2008, 03:20 PM
I'd just get the motorized seats and wire them in. I don't know if the side airbags came on the non-motorized Eclipse seats. Don't just bypass the side airbags though. I thought about doing this and my Mitsu dealer said that if the airbag light is on the ENTIRE airbag system is disabled.

ill have to look into it more

when i order the new stock ones from a mitsu dealer ill ask them about it

Not bad. I would've just got some recaro seats in the front though.
I like how the backseats are black.. except I'm not feeling how the seats look like it has extra cushion or something.
Tobad the tan isn't grey.. or black, would've looked a lot cleaner.

Seeing how this thread is a about 3G seat look like in an 8g, Recaro Seats needs modification to fit thus cost more money. I bought this pair for $220 with $0 cost of modifying as it would cost me $400+ for Recaros plus $200+ for custom brackets and install, that's why you don't see a whole lot of us sporting one. I'm just an underdog helping the other 2/3 members in here 8)

fatal1
01-22-2008, 01:47 PM
for the recaros they are around $700 plus for the pair but if you take off the sliders from the stock seats and bolt them on to the recaros then you can save some there...although the doors and rear would definatelly have to be done professionlly...or at minimum the rear (i guess you can get away with just black suade on the doors and save some there also)

yeah, I wanted in leather but it was too expensive at the time. Be advise if you're going that route, get it flatten as opposed to the fluffy like mine. Like tim said "it's a pimp seat"

i like the front seats but the back im not a fan of, i need to find room where to store my 8g seats if i do get new black ones tho

how hard would it be to just turn my seats black without doing covers? covers rip and look like shit, anyways, i kinda want to go leather tho

those look to be motorized, was it hard to wire? and do they have srs airbag?

fatal1
01-22-2008, 02:13 PM
how do they look motorized? they have the handles blatently in the pictures...you dont have to get electric ones and i honestly dont know if they were available on the eclipse anyway considering its a 2dr and you need a lever or something to get to the back anyway...if you do get motorized ones then they arent too hard to wire...the srs sensor is a little plug on the bottom of the seat that you plug in....you really dont even have to do so...if you get new seats you just throw the old ones out or sell them.... what do you want to store them for

i really dont understand why this is all that difficult for you to comprehend...take out 4 bolts from the old seats and put in the 4 for the new ones put in a plug and your done.... its a direct swap plain and simple every post you make is thought out way too much and you just complicate everything

That's clean. Throw an Eclipse steering wheel on there, and it'd be SET.

yea its coming eventually still got a little work to do on the interior (headliner, carpet, mod the rear black seatbelts from an eclipse to work with the galant setup...and the wheel) but ive been concentrating more on this sds and engine work before i finish though

ive also bee looking into some other possible options for the wheel like the evo one but i have to see if there is a way to get it to work havent really gotten into too much research on that...due to the current project

if you look, theres the handle for the seat to go forward but theres also what LOOKS to be a motor to control the bottom of it. so sorry i took that wrong and sorry for double checking everything b4 i go and waste money that i dont have alot of since i dont have a full time job like money people on here

Actually, this thread is etremely useful because NORMAL people would probably read all the post, probably go out to a junk yard (or club 3g) buy one cheap, install it like it said on this thread, and continue on with their lives. The only one that does not quite get it is you :?
BTW, there is a motor switch (on the leather models) which regulates the seat adjusment, which by the way, explained in this thread, how to wire it conviniently.

i think you mean many.

and from the motorized seats that i have seen before, there isn't that bar there since the motor is what adjusts that.

fatal1
01-22-2008, 07:58 PM
make sure the seats are in your house then take 1 wire and stick it in an outlet and the other directly to your testicals

alright i know thats not very nice lol

for you if you plan on doing it yourself....i will give you the easiest possible way by far not the best but it will work fine, connect a wire to the 12v power lead on the seat...run it through the carpet up the firewall and drill a small hole to you can get the wire through make sure to get a rubber grommet to place in the newly drilled holes to prevent any possible damage from the sharp edges...run the wire directly to the possitive lead on the battery make sure to add in an inline fuse i would do it somehwere near the firewall

the ground...take a wire and connect it to the ground wire find a bolt somewhere under the carpet take it out and ground the wire there

so you will need
wire
wire strippers (or simple razor blade)
misc elecrical 0 rings depending on the size of teh bolts
electrical tape
preferablly a solder gun and solder
rubber grommet
inline fuse

the most minute understanding of electrical wiring

but all seriousness dude just read...im not trying to insult you or anything but dont beat everything to death just go out do something and learn about what the hell you are doing instead of asking someone how to preverbially*(spelling lol) screw in a lightbulb

all you questions seem to be as i can recall extremely basic and while thats ok here and there it shouldnt have to be explained to death there is a huge wealth of knowledge in the pages of these boards i suggest you learn the basics before you get into something over your head

fatal, instead of drilling, if you lift the carpet (i did this for my SG) can i just feed the wire threw the rubber stopper already there?
next, by putting it directly on the battery will that drain it? could i just put the positive wire into my streetglow unit and flip the switch when i want to adjust the seat?

see not such a bad learner rite? thanks for the new help

right that is what you should do actually but i wasnt sure if you knew the location of the hole thats there already no it wont drain it like the switch for your lights teh seats switch is similar if its not being used no current is being conducted because the circuit isnt connected unless the switch is pushed one way or another
