From what Craig said about the GS engine... your looking for 2g Eclipse Turbo Cams.

Right Craig? :?

this was my next question
take a look at this: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...item=1875978686 ('http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=6770&item=1875978686')

would they do?

Well the ad does say Galant 2.4L now doesn't it. Yes, those and any other Eclipse SOHC non-Turbo cams will work for you.

Now gsrider, since your Galant motor is a GS, take a look at that Ebay add roman posted. Your wanting the Eclipse 89-99 DOHC Turbo Cams, they got them right there. AEM too, nice... just like mine

You guys are aware that this is not exactly what I would call a "bolt up" modification, only due to the fact that you will need to know how to tune your timing from then opn out, it is not as easy as some would have you beleive. I had a terrible time with mine advancing it even 1 degree. The stock camshaft is good, but I would go here to see about getting a better one... www.visionimports.com

I'm still waiting on mine

cams, and Cam gears = 2g turbo

if you want upgraded cam-SHAFTS, you want stock 1g cams, or a mild turbo Setup (HKS 264's)

but, any adjustable GEAR Will Work from a 2.4L SOHC, or DOHC

well if you cange your cams to diff. life you also would have to change you valve springs and rockers correct??

so what exactly would new cams do? more performance?

yes. think of timing. the longer the cam takes less movement if you shorten the time it takes for one rotation the faster the movement

Correct me if I'm wrong (Craig https://www.thegalantcenter.org/style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif ), but it is not really nessesary to get valve springs if you go with some mild cam shafts.
Also from what I have heard cam gears alone won't give any big gains in power, but when you combine them with cam shafts...that's another story.
But I believe the main thing cam shafts do is raise your rpm limit, so instead of having your redline at 6K it will be at 6.5 or some will raise it up to even 8K (these are numbers from the top of my head). But when you get more aggressive cam shafts, you definately need some stiffer valve springs otherwise you will damage the motor at high rpm.

I've also heard that if you get different camshafts, shouldn't you get a torque converter?

Just wondering...

cam gears.. Simple... where is the camshaft (in rotation) when the spark plugs.. spark...

if you pull the cams back a little, The Spark will be "earlier" And you'll have a more complete explosion, and a little bit of (for lack of a better Term) choking, or backup Which allows for better low-end grunt.

advancing the Cams... will have the ignition fire later, Which will have shorter, quicker explosions which help in the top-end.

now, cam shafts themselves Allow for custom amounts of lift, and/or duration.

lift, being how *MUCH* your valves open. more, or less.

duration being... how *LONG* they stay open

for a low Revving, torque monster, I'd imagine you'd like a motor with a longer duration, and shallow-er lift..

where, When you have high-revving HP machine, you'de want greater lift, and quick lift

I'll openly Admit, cam profiles Are not my specialty.. but, those Are The basics...
