View Full Version : HOW TO: Disassemble JDM Power Folding Mirrors for the 8G

Tools you'll need

Remove the rubber gasket

Remove the screw holding the metal clip thats holding the wire

Cut off / remove the plastic connector

Uscrew the 3 bottom screws. NOTE: These are threadlocked screws so you have to use a High-Torque Electric Screwdriver to remove them

Push the top of the lense up by hand

Insert a flat head screw driver between the white braket and the lense then slowly pry the lense up

Then with fingers pull the lense out of there

Remove all the screws marked with a red circle using a phillips screw driver NOTE: DO NOT REMOVE THE CENTER SCREW

Move the attached assembly aside, do not unplug

Remove the other 2 screws

Carefully using a flat head screw driver pry the little tab on the bottom corner and remove the bottom cover of the mirror

Remove screw to release the motor

Remove the Last Screw

Sorry, I don't get it, whats the point of taking it apart? Do you need to take it apart before putting them on the 8g or something?
Also you should be like the other threads... and put a disclaimer for not being liable for damages. :wink:

It is because his motors went bad so he swapped them in so he didn't have to repaint the mirrors.

P>S> I told you it can be done roman :wink:

if you want to take them apart this is how. Otherwise don't. Angel is correct, one of my motors took a shit on me awhile back and i'm finally replacing it.

what does the motor look like? is it just one of those round or rectangle ones like at radioshack?

hmm good tutorial roman i will have to be replacing my pass side motor soon starting to crap out on me as of late...it still works sometimes but i have to hi the button a couple times

So i my motor takes a crap, I have to buy an entire new set of mirrors to replace it?? Thats crap!

its the colddddd, nothing you can do about it. But my drivers side motor broke so my pass side might be for sale soon :)

the 3 wires go to the stock wiring and the folding wire has to go to a 12v power source
