I've read some threads online about ECU reset, but don't see any about galants' ECU. Any one know how to do it specifically?

Specific:
Pop the hood, arm your self with 10mm wrench and remove the (-NEG)+(+POS) terminals on your battery. Wait for 30 minutes. Now take the (-NEG)+(+POS) terminal ends and reattach them, tighten it with 10mm wrench, close the hood,,,ta ta!

You guys are right so I edited mine too.

Just disconnecting the negative doesn't insure a total ECU reset. You have to disconnect both the postive and negative terminals for several minutes.

Correct. Remove both the positive and negative terminals for a minimum of 15 minutes to reset the ECU. Be prepared that your car will likely not run perfectly until the ECU re-learns any new mods and your driving habits.

there is no re-learning.

your car will always run best after its first reset.
it will run maximum timing, and fuel enrichment.

the longer your drive. the ecu will adjust long-term fuel trims and retard timing.
i promise you it will not be as aggressive.

thats why MY ecu is programmed to reset itself every time the car is turned off.
