View Full Version : i keep melting the pass side coil pack!!!

barely made it home the other day, and found the c/p melted. bought a new one for 90 bucks and it melted after 20 minutes of driving. wtf! getting the multimeter out tomorrow and will test the wires and whatnot, but what could cause this? please help asap!!!

oh, i think i figured it out.........are the wires from the first 2 cylinders (pass side) supposed to be on 1 coil pack, and the other 2 on the same one? i think i did it wrong.......i replaced the wires a few days ago and think i screwed it up......i went from far left to driver side, and from the driver side to the pass side one......

ok, swapped them and it wont even crank now......it's 2 in the morning though, and i only tried twice cause it backfired real bad the first time.....

last thing, sometimes the tack rises and drops to zero for a few seconds and the rpm's dont change.....just thinking......

The coil pack on the right side(First cylinder on the right) conects to the last cylinder on the left side(Cylinder #4, Next to the Cam gear). The coil pack on the left side(cylinder #3) connects to the cylinder on its right(cylinder#2).

Cyl.1(Coil Pack)-Cyl.4
Cyl.2-Cyl.3(Coil Pack)

ok, i had it right, now what do i do about the melting c/p's?

Its obvious you have a load somewhere that it burning it out. Did you change the plugs too?

i would guess they fixed it by now but change the plugs first and go from there
