Im about to order a mtx sledgehammer box with 2 7512 subs in it, but it says single voice coils. Should i get this with single 4 ohm or dual 4 ohm? which will let me wire down to 2 or 1 ohm? My friend has the mtx sledgehammer but he says he got the dual 4 ohm subs and his shit slams so hard, so i dunno. help me out plz

this is wut im gonna order

Dual

either one doesn't matter

DVCs are just made to give you more wiring options.

if you go SVC, your choices or wiring are 8 and 2 ohms with 2 subs (depending if it is bridged or 1 sub per channel/amp)

if you go DVC, your options are 4 and 1 with 2 subs (on a mono block amp)

Dual 4ohm. Wire the speakers in series and bridge the amplifier.

Dual 4ohm will be more wiring options but just remember that when you buy and amp your going to have to get one that is 4ohm capable, some of the amps are not capable of running at 4ohm's.

and if you want a 1 ohm amp, parallel the VCs and bridged the amp

dual coils on a 1 ohm amp = max power :D

Dual 4ohm will be more wiring options but just remember that when you buy and amp your going to have to get one that is 4ohm capable, some of the amps are not capable of running at 4ohm's.

All amps are capable of running 4ohms. Many can easily do 2ohms, some can do 1ohm or even .5ohms.

Running the speakers in series gives you a 8ohm load, then bridging the amp gives you a total of a 4ohm load.

close...

run the voice coils in series, not the speakers

rite now i have a kickerzx1000.1 but i think im gonna run the 7500's on a mtx 7801 mono amp which is 800 watts rms at 2 ohms. accordin to crutchfield wiring diagrams, running 2 dual 4 ohm subs gets u 4 ohm load. you get the 2 ohm load with 2 subs with the single voice coils....right? how do i get a 1 ohm load with those subs on the mtx amp?

to get one ohm load, you would wire the possitive terminals of each sub (2 since it's a DVC) to one another, and then do the same for the negative terminals. after you have done that, run a negative wire and a positive wire from each sub and bridge it on the amp.

with dual 4ohm speakers the lowest impedance you could get is 2ohm. Like flie said you would have to bridge the amp AND wire the speakers in parallel.

In this case the only way to 1ohm is with the dual 2ohm subs wired the same way.

1 sub, not subs
