I won the auction for the bodega beige spoiler the guy said it only came with 4 screws instead of 6 which is no big deal but he said nothing else came with it

I was hoping it comes with something to helps install it right

Any help is appreciated

Thanks

Make a template out of it so you know exactly where to drill the holes. I would send you mine if I still had it, except my mom thought it was trash :(

Just lay it on your trunk where you want it, mark the spots and lay down the foam slips (if it came with any), drill the holes, pull through any wires if you have a 3rd brake light in the wing and then drill the screws through from the inside of the trunk (have it all the way up). Once you get the screws in you should be good.

yeah I can do that I'm not sure if foam pieces are coming with it or not but the template will make the job much easier getting everything right and nowscrewing anything at all

Yeah man you'll be good, one of the easiest installations Ive done on my car ( not like any of my mods are difficult... =/ )

Take it to a shop to have it put on right.

not everyone likes having shops do everything for them some people like to work on there own car and learn from it,
i put my evo wing on myself, i even took it off my self! its a galant not a ferrari

03-17-2008, 06:53 PM
Yeah I prefer doing most of my own stunts. It's only a damn wing, too, really simple installation.

spdracr
03-17-2008, 08:52 PM
yeah i would let a shop do it but why pay someone to do this while i did my own suspension myself and all the other stuff to my car

hellk4t
03-17-2008, 10:08 PM
Yeah man it's really simple, you don't even need a layout. Just set it on the trunk, mark where you want it, and drill through. You'll be ight.

Silly noobs :), Please don't even say that i don't do my own work. This is really something i'm not even gonna try to defend LOL!!

I take my car to the shop when i know i can't or have no experience doing something that can damage my car. Its like pulling teeth. You have pliers at home, but i don't see you sticking them in your mouth. And as far as you doing your own work, well your car clearly shows your level of talent and skill.

ur car is one of a kind and who dont u or ur car will definitely have no say in this, i know u r not a noob and most of the work on ur car and probably all of it done by yourself, of course if i think i will mess it up then i will have a shop do it for but the least i can do is get there and see how hard/easy it is to do

Really not that hard at all. My dad and I did it in about 3 hours and we've never done anything like that. Just put 5 holes in the trunk, used anti-rust stuff on the holes, painted them up with touch-up paint, screwed on the spoiler and tapped the wire in for the 3rd stop. Then I siliconed the inside of the trunk where I drilled holes for added seal. Not hard at all.

Looks like its a teeny bit off to the driver side (on the top of the wing - as in towards roof)

what do u mean he's off i think it looks perfect

spardavr4
03-18-2008, 04:59 PM
It looks off because it doesn't look like it is bolted down. See how the top is lifted a little bit.

Dude, you know the rubber stoppers?? Unscrew those and that's one hole, go from there. You have to get it right the first time or you will mess up your trunk. If you make a mistake and drill the hole off just by little bit and the bolt wont work.
This is what I did when I installed mine.

Take 2 boxes, set one leg on one and one on the other. Outline the shape of the leg on the box. Now measure length and width with a measuring tape and transfer those measurements on the box, drill the holes you just measured in the box. Set the spoiler back on and see if the holes match, make adjustments. It's better to go thru as many boxes as it takes then make a mistake on your trunk. Once you have it right, cut on the outline and set it on your trunk. Now you know that it will fit exactly like on the box.

Let me know if you need more help.

The front one on the left you will need two holes, one is small and one is about 3/4 of and inch for the harness. Hang on, let me see If I can get good photos for you. BRB

I remember that the right side had 2 holes and the left side had 3 holes. 2 holes on each side for the bolts and one extra on the left for the 3rd stop wiring.

RAZ_76
03-18-2008, 09:26 PM
In that last picture, do you see where the harness is coming out of??? I cant photograph that. The harness should have a rubber gormet on it that if you cut the hole just right, it will fit nice and tight so water doesn't get in there.

Use a magnetic socket or something for those bolts in the spoiler too. If your not careful you can drop them into the inside of the trunk lid (I know from personal experience) and they can be a bitch to get out.
