I read around on some reupholstering and I think you gotta wrap the armrest or get a new one? I don't think you can paint it (?)

That armrest has some screws on the bottom of it, where the cups would go. Unscrew them and the armrest will come off, or that rubber top. Wrap it and screw it back in, that should hold it.

im wrapping it but the edges wont stay. do i staple it or what should i use to hold the corners in place because the viynl is not thin enought to just get a clean fast wrap.

You are going to have to use some kind of clamps that lock in place and leave it alone for 24hours. Do you have something like these??

nope. The viynl I have is too thick. It just makes major creses. Is there another type of black material or paint that would work for this?

Go to a local junkyard and cut a piece of automotive viny out of a cars dash board and stick it in you pocket.

I got the viynl from joanns and its marine viynl its not that thick but for the edging it cant be stretched to pull out the creses on the corner. I seen in another thread u can dye it. what kind of dye would i use?

Thats exspensive. So the best bet would be to wrap it? Im painting my middle console and other trim pieces today and i want the armrest to also be black.

Try that Vinyl & fabric paint by duplicolor. Live it out in the sun as much as possible and see , I guess. I tried paint and it rubbed off even after I cured it.

So did you end up wrapping yours or just left it?

I did that on my daily Galant and left it alone. On my 02 Galant, I will wrap it when I do the doors. Get some padding, glue that first and then the vinyl. Trash that rubber thing, that's why you are having issues I bet, you are trying to glue that vinyl on op of that rubber POS and makes everything too thick.

No problem, make a how to when you start for others to see. I would make one but Im far from starting that project, at least another 6 months. I still have to order my leather from Italy.

looks like you already found your solution, but i am making taking three pieces of vinyl and sewing them together in the shape of the armrest. ill try to get some pics later. i took brown paper bags and cut and taped them together. took a lot of trimming, but i think it will look good after its done. just take your time and trim, tape, test fit, repeat.

speaking of padding, it would be nice to get a more compfortable whatever there to lean on lol

hmm *thought comes to mind* lol
