I was getting my oil changed three weeks ago and the guy said I needed a new alternator belt as well as a power steering belt. He quoted me $155 with labor and I didn't do it because most shops will try to sell you things you do not nexessarily need. I usually go to my shop but I went somewhere else for the oil change. Point is I am wondering how hard it would be to change those belts myself. I am not very mechanically inclined but I am tired of hearing squealing at lights when Im idling and when I first start her up. Its a 4cyl 8g by the way. Thanks again.

If your belts are squeaking, then they need to be adjusted or replaced. But you think the shop you went to was trying to rip you off? Sounds like they told you exactly what is wrong.

$155 is an ok price, maybe a bit high, at a shop.

This is over a year old, problem has since be remedied by the shop that did my timing belt.
