Having a little fun at the spring fun meet/cobweb shaker.

was a little cold out + street tires,

but i finished 2nd in Street Modified.

I was racing against guys with race compound tires. 2 evo's and a miata.

was a blast.

sorry the vid is kinda dull, but i didn't shoot it.

You won't ruin your tires unless you get careless on the track like excessive speed, braking too hard and late, etc etc.

Great run John...your tires sure love screaming! Looks like the very last turn you went into the turn too fast...so a bit of understeer. :P

That last turn before the end of the course was my favorite. i woudl hit it hard, and the whole car would slide.
That was my best run of the day. 38.28 seconds. The best overall run of the day(in any class) was @ 35 seconds. And that was from a modified EVO9 on race tires(almost no squeal on his tires whatsoever). That evo woudl launch off the line, wheras i woudl spin tires.... so there's 1.5 seconds right off the bat.

Overall i was(and still am) stoked. To do as well as i did, for my first time out ever... and on street tires(in a class where race tires are pretty much mandatory to compete).
Makes me proud of my car.

I've never competed in my cars. In the black GS I wish i really would have. Now i'll never be able to of course. So i'm making the White GS a car where i'm going to compete on all levels(drag, autocross, roadrace, shows)
I've decided to not be a bench racer anymore.

don't worry about the launch you will be able to soon enough.

other than that, i think you were running really good.

isn't it better to have smaller rims and more rubber for auto x?

to an extent, yes.
ideally i'd be riding on some very light 16x 8's

but on sunday it was either my stock GS wheels with winter tires, or my 18's with summer maz performance yokahama radials.

so i went with the 18's.

i found a set of lancer oz rims that i might pick up for cheap with tires. i'll save those tires for the winter and pick up a set of race tires.
i'd rather have 16's though so we'll see what future events bring.

I hear what you mean John...I really want to compete in events with the -G-rim. Seth has been the more proactive one of out of us 7g'er racing his car at events. I am getting the car AutoX/Circuit ready...I really want to race those events, no so much of drag racing. I willl once in awhile enter the car at a show also.

I am just trying to get all the suspension parts done, new clutch, and new brake setup and then i'll start competing hopefully sometime this summer.
