When I go to read my ECU I get an error. I installed it using Flash's tutorial. I first went through the trouble of removing that damn air box, then I removed my old 1999 ECU and installed the 2001 ECU. I plugged in the cables and connector and hit read and turn the ignition to the on position. I can hear relays in the engine bay firing then the error comes up. Should I installed the reluctor? Here is the log:

Looks like a locked ecu. Try this... goto

http://www.aktivematrix.com/forum/dload.php?action=category&cat_id=11

Register, download and use with ecuflash. That should unlock any ecu.

I tried it, but the same error still comes up. Im going try to see if I can read my 1999 ECU.

In that case the pins are not the same, and you need to get a hold on 2 wiring diagrams and compare them.

I'll check the haynes manual.

Try this: Try using a generic obd2 scanner that you can rent from autozone. If you can't connect then you have a wiring problem. BTW WHY oh WHY would you ever plug a 2001 ecu into a 1999 car without checking the pinout???? You relize that mitsu are idiots and assholes and they will change pins left and right.

I'm still learning, I'll try that tomorrow. I thought pinout would be the same. Where can I find the pinouts at I've searched but could not find any.

I think were ass out of luck on this one, unless we can find some pinouts. The guy at the dealership looked through the manual for 10 minutes then said he couldnt find it, but I know its in the book cause the manual at galantforums has the pinouts and I think their the same manual but different year. I want to snatch the book out his hand and look for myself. The manuals are on Ebay for 99,00,01,02 and 03, but want $69 to $110 for them, which is to much.

spdracr if there are any mitsubushi dealers near you see if you can have better luck than me looking for pinouts. I'm goin to try the one in Winston Salem thursday.
