This is whats up. Old paint was all cracked and chipped so I needed to prime it, but here is my progress so far

http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee291/okm12346/HPIM0218.jpg

http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee291/okm12346/HPIM0216.jpg

A little taste of the new paint. I used the hood, cuz it ill be trashed after, cuz I'll be getting humpless hood

http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee291/okm12346/HPIM0220.jpg

Still sanding down the primer, and hopefully by the end of this weekend it will be ready to paint.

I dunno about your car, but I thought that is required for the cover to clear the hood? Or is that only on the 4g63's?

Nope, It has nothing to do with clearance. The hood frame is all straight, w/o bumps on it, but the metal sheet on top has it.

Sorry, double post

I'm pretty sure the hump was for the DOHC cars, like the GS, but since they quit making the GS they quit putting the hump on. i'm sure they went the cost effective route, one car, one style hood for all types. i personally like my hump, and now it will have a funtion.

Looks pretty awesome so far.

And for the record, the hump in the hood is not required for a DOHC setup, at least a 4g63t setup. I know the 4g64 DOHC has a taller deck height, so who knows.

Post up some finished results!

I am impressed with you doing all the prep and painting...the results are really great! I am just baffled that the paint came out soo nice considering where you were painting the car at.

Your 7g is the 3rd RED 7g I have ever seen in my whole life. A GS several years ago..a past member named NitriousOxide and yours. Looking forward to finished picks of the car all back together.

I would attempt to paint mine myself..but I don't have the time and my homeowners association wouldn't like if I painted a car in my yard.

Well its not perfect, but its decent. I sprayed it in the driveway so it got some dust on it, but it isnt over yet. Next is to let it cure for a couple of weeks and then I wet sand it with 2000 grid to remove all the little crap that got stuck on it and then polish it.
