Hi there,

I have been having problems with my ABS light on my dash for almost 12 months now. I've told the dealer about it when I take the car in for it's scheduled service, but they tell me they can't reproduce the problem in order to diagnose and fix the problem.

When I apply the (foot) brake, *sometimes* none of my brake lights will work (very dangerous)! The first time this happens in a 'session' of driving will usually be either towards the end of my trip when my car is warm or straight away if it's a warm/hot day. The first time it happens, as well as my brake lights failing to come on, the 'Anti-Lock' indicator lights up on my dash. From then on, the brake lights will intermittently not work so I constantly need to check in my rear view if they're working or not.

Once I switch the ignition off, the Anti-Lock indicator will usually disappear once I turn the ignition on again, unless the ignition has only been off for a very short time, the problems will re-occur within a few minutes of driving again.

Anyone know what this may be or where I can suggest a mechanic start looking?

Thanks in advance! https://www.thegalantcenter.org/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif

Oh, and it's a 1994 HJ Galant (JDM)....

i'd try to get it on video or show up at the dealer one day when it does happen and go out on a test drive possibly

Yeah I'm still around...but I'm a 'she' https://www.thegalantcenter.org/style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif

It still happens in my car, mainly in the warmer, summer months. In fact, it has not happened once this winter.

I still have no idea why it happens but have associated it with 1. warm weather and 2. medium-heavy braking shortly after startup

Check your brake fluid, and see if maybe ya might have a leak. Did you just have you brakes changed and or system worked on? Other than that it could be one of your abs sensors going bad or something.
