my bandpass was about that size, and then i had a box for 4 10s that was WAY bigger than that. Shouldn't be that big of a challenge, you may want to have the amp behind the box instead of on top though

Yeah, I had the same box in my 94 Galant and it was a really snug fit. I didn't even to mount it with screws, I just wedged it in. It's basically 2 8" Kicker competition c Free air woofers. I still want enough space in my trunk for groceries and stuff. Now the next challenge is running the amp cable thru the firewall. I prefer not to have to drill another hole.

So far, so good.

if they are in a box, then they aren't free air

My stereo terminology may be a little dated (pre 2000's), but if I remember correctly, the woofers I installed were designed for ported boxes, not sealed. I think they have a little more throw space for the cone.

looks good, it blends it a bit with the carpet look like the trunk liner

what the ports do is helps hit even lower notes than the F3 (roll off) point of the woofers. the bandpass helps that even more.

8" subs in a bandpass, that can't be too big of a box. And I also didn't drill into the firewall, I ran the power wire up into the fender into the engine bay. Makes the hood stand up a lil bit though

HORRIBLE MOVE!!! you need to put it through the firewall.

HORRIBLE MOVE!!! you need to put it through the firewall.

specific reasons? I've had it like that since 04

1) the problem you're having with your hood.
2) looks bad
3) potential of cutting the coating on the wire and shorting the system out

That's what I was thinking, i'm gonna risk it a while longer and maybe make it a summer project

Finally got it all in and it sounds great. It was an all day job but well worth taking the time to do the job right.

I chose to top mount my amp for space. It's actually on backwards, but it keeps the wires hidden and I can adjust the settings by opening the back seat hatch.

As far as the other poster mentioning running the power wire through the fender, if you have an automatic, there is a cutout left of the brake where the clutch would have went if you had one. It's super easy to just drill a hole there. I think there is a thread here on how to do it. That's the route I went. Much easier and neater.
