I was just reading the post about the lost keys and was wondering since I only got 1 key from the dealer i bought the car from, do all the Galants have programmed keys? (I have a 2003) I saw the blank keys on ebay so i would have to buy one of them and bring my original key and the blank to a Mitsubishi dealer?

I don't remember exactly what years DON'T have the chip but I know for sure that the 99 doesn't ( I have a 99). The 2003 DOES have the programmed key though

buy a key on ebay, get any locksmith to cut it for you, and take it to mitsu to program. (cheapest way to do it)

im pretty sure theres a way u can program your key on your own with the process of inserting the original key and turning it a certian number of times then inserting the new key

you need two original keys to begin with to do this.

if you really want to test it, go to the locksmith and get a copy of the key made. its like what? 2 bucks or something. they should open the doors and the trunk no problem. good for when you get locked out of the car. now if your car really does have the transponder key, you shouldn't be able to start up the car and drive away with the key.

ask them just for programming. get the key and get it cut somewhere else and just bring it to them

can't you just tape Your big expensive imobilizer key inside the steering column. then use any old home depot key to start your car?

Perhaps if i lived in nyc or some other higher crimerate city i'd be concerned...

but in louisville,KY car theft is extremly rare.
