Matt you're talking about the pedal itself but not the lever. It's not cable driven like our older cars.

There shouldnt be anything wrong with a plastic gas pedal, a brake pedal maybe but the throttle is stopped by a peg on the floorboard, there is probably some outlying circumstance for that particular pedal failure.

no wonder the pedal feels like nothing and there really isn't a lot of pedal travel either
