Well. I pulled my motor again a couple of weeks ago due to a weird noise which i thought was an oil pump after a few hours of listening and replacing lash adjusters and blah blah blah. I pulled the motor to check out the noise as well as to send the tranny off to a tranny shop because i have grinding gears. The noise was a bad timing belt tensioner so i bought a new OEM one. Im still waiting on that and im gonna go ahead and replace the oil pump, timing belt and the pulleys. So for now while im waiting on parts i figured id give it a shot to see how the WHOLE motor would look flat black. It doesnt look too bad. It actually looks alot better than what it did. So here are a few pics of what ive done. I was told not to paint the alternator unless i mask off all the holes in it. Thats going to take a good bit of time so ill wait on that. Anyways tell me what you guys think.

Only one question??? Why???

Several reasons why i did it. 1. the white valve cover wasnt working out. 2. the throttle body was pretty old and it didnt match my intake manifold even after i took a metal brush to it with a drill. 3. I think it will look pretty good when its done. 4. My block was looking a little rusty even after i brushed the shit out of it. 5. fuel rail was lookin ugly. 6. waternecks were lookin ugly. I think im gonna go get some satin today. It looks a little grey.. That was just a test run and now its too late to go back to the stock look! LOL

You should do a camo job. Well if your having seconds thoughts on the color at least you primered it first.... Also, correct me if I'm wrong but it looks like you just took a can of spray paint to the whole thing. I would've at least took everything apart and painted separate so it looks half way decent. What kind of paint did you use?

Just a heads up.
Sooner or later(probably sooner)
Your engine is going to look like poo.
the paint will chip and mar, and flake off in places.

Good idea though.

I can't believe you painted all yoru sensors, fuel injectors too lol. Even your timing cover(which was already black) and your distributor cap.
Looks to me like you wanted instant results with little planning or effort.
Not trying to flame, I'm just letting you know what you now have to look forward to.

At least you didn't paint the alternator.
You did however paint the flange surface for the exhaust manifold.
Yipes.

Yea my buddy came over and told me i needed to get that off. So i used some carb cleaner and a razor blade and it came off pretty easily. I have this one pic i took when i snapped some pics of my car at the boss' house. Its a little dirty under there because i have to drive down a 1/2 mile dirt road to get to their house every morning. It actually looks pretty good i think. Right now she is getting full exhaust work done so that ugly ass header will be gone ;-). I repainted it satin after it fully dried after the original job.. It kind of turned gray so satin looks 20x better. Oh and dont worry guys.. I didnt use that oil filter after i spray painted it. I just put it back on there to plug the hole so i didnt get paint in it.

Why stop there?

Im not done. I really havent done much to the car since i put the motor back into it since may. She isnt done and i will be cleaning the bay and finding somewhere to tuck those plug wires and painting the water tanks and other stuff.. I just wish my coilovers werent orange........ Anyways. John do you think running my wires around the injectors at the back of the VC will cause an issue? Or where do you suggest that i tuck them?
