Where did you guys get the shocks to hold up the trunk? i've been looking for a while for some. I had to remove my torsion bars to make my trunk sit flush and im getting tired of holding up my trunk everytime. What are some good brands?

I got the redline tuning ones. VegasMatt and Cali got the same. I got them from we sell car parts the vendor on here. I got them for an 02-07 lancer trunk. Make sure you specifiy that you need them for the CF trunk.
They can't be installed at the measurements that are enclosed with the struts though, as our trunks are larger. I don't believe I have the measurements anymore that I had mine done by. I was in contact with vegasmatt and cali when mine was done. I would pm either of them and see if they still have the pics and measurements that were taken for me, as I am not around my 8G as much as they are. If no luck with them I can get pics and measurements for you when I am near my 8G

so im reading that there is a quicklift and a quicklift elite. Does it really help to buy the elite? Its kind of expensive...

the difference is the warranty is longer with the elite, and the elite are stainless steel, and the regulars are black. I have the regulars. As far as the trunk being CF, they can make either one of them for the CF

I have some pics of mine. I will post them.
they aren't get pics, but show they are installed.

QNZ also has a set in his car too, but doesn't have a CF trunk, he might have some pics of them as well

If someone can get measurements for the Lancer kit for the trunk, that would be great! I plan on doing it in the near future with my stock trunk.

I think so because I have seen them on stock hoods at club3G.

okay.
I tried to take some pics the other day. I had a little trouble taking the pic and holding the tape measurer, but this should help a bit.
I only took of the driver's side. The passenger side should be the same

above picture is where the bottom mount is riveted down. The distance is from the rubber under the back window in the corner

the above pic is the same, but with tape measurer on inner side

Thanks Jay! Looks like 2.25" to the center of the bracket for the bottom and about 15" to the center of the bracket for the top one. That will help a lot. Gives me somewhere to start.

For the Lancer trunk kit, did it come with rivets or screws for the brackets?

its a whole kit brackets and rivets or screws depending on the car its for, all u need is a rivet gun

Yeah, I know, I have the hood shocks and had them installed with my CF hood which came with rivets for both mounts. But, in some of the kits on Redline's site, I've seen screws. I was just curious which ones the Lancer kit came with. The reason I ask is because I'm sure they use one or the other for a reason and I might try using my hood struts from when I had the CF hood and use them for the trunk. So, I want to make sure I use rivets where rivets were used and screws where screws were used.

EDIT: Never mind. I just dowloaded the installation PDF for the Lancer trunk kit and they use all rivets. The top brackets are different than any of the ones I have from my hood kit, so that won't work. : (

i bought the eclipse cf hood struts thinking it would fit the galant but it was a totally different size shock and the brackets came with rivets and screw both so different cars do have different applications

Thanks but I just checked tonight and there is no way I can use my hood struts for the trunk anyway because they are way too short. Looks like I'll have to just buy the Lancer trunk kit. I'll try my hood struts with my stock hood and hope they work seeing as they are meant for a CF hood.

Just wanted to report that I reinstalled my hood struts for the CF hood with my stock hood and they work great.
