Hey just got the galant and its an ES all stock. And the first question that comes to mind to a poor student is What is the absolute cheapest or DIY mod I can do to initiate my stock G to the TGC?

99 cent mods are welcome, funny answers are welcome also :) i do not intend to make a rice btw :)

If you don't want it to be rice, don't make 99 cent mods.

If you don't have the money to mod then don't. You'll just end up messing up your car.

Remove pinstripe, rear badges, clear corners or black out headlights, remove chrome trim around the doors. Those are free mods, even better then 99 cents, but here is the tricky part, there are free mods and then there are mods that start at 50 dollars, anything between the 50dollar mark and free is RICE!

but you gotta have tools and supplies for those mods and they cost over 99 cents...

Lol, that's pretty much it, I think they covered the basics. But like they said, once you've done those mods, don't try and hook up your car if you have no money. Because you will buy sum cheap crap, and end up screwing up your car. Take your time, search around here to get sum ideas and start saving money. The two best places that I buy my stuff from is here and eBay. Most other places will cost you an arm and a leg (sometimes but not always). Just know not to buy any "no name brand" stuff on eBay and you'll be aight.

Servicing is definitely something you can do on a budget, a well serviced car is a good platform for modifying.

Didn't 99galant do something like this and had to spend extra $$$ just to get back to stock?

I dont have money for serious MODs and I will not buy cheap rice stuff neither but I want my car to be part of TGC :) How about TGC sticker only moded cars get those or you get those on meetups? I live in queens and I just missed the last one... the flushing meadows park is just by my house :)

Removing chrome around doors? How hard is that? My car is 2003 the whole front bumber needs to be removed to replace grill and such?

Clearing corners and needles looks like serious hemorroid to do :) What are the chances of screwing clearing corners up?

For the corners I didnt even split them, I found a small tool with a hook on the end of it, took it and hooked it around the edge of the reflector and broke it into small enough pieces that I could take it out of the hole that the corner bulb goes into.

you can jack up the lights if you're not careful. I cracked the housing on mine but it wasn't too noticeable. (And say no to spray paint on the outside of your car.) LOL.I

I used hi-gloss black spray paint on my grills, fog grills, and the plastic pieces behind each tire (mudflap area) and it looked MUCH better than that shitty grey.

Lightly in moderation in the right spots will improve the look.

dude it sounds like you're trying to mod your car just for the sake of modding it. learn to appreciate the clean, OEM look that our cars can have, and spend your money on a nice bucket of cleaning supplies for inside and out. not everyone at the meets needs to have $5k worth of body work and a JDM motor to be accepted; hell, you'll probably get 10x more compliments than the other cars if your ride is 100% clean in and out. don't start hacking away at the car just because you're bored, don't make the car suffer.

seriously, buy cleaning stuff. leave it at that.

I couldn't have said it better. Also don't starve your children or yourself to get parts either. If I cant afford something, I save for it not downgrade just to have something to do. I save and wait.

Can anyone think of other mods that require cutting or painting that I may try while car is apart?

Oh and another cheap mod is clear your needles and paint them. 5$ for paint and use nail polish remover
