Just wonderin for those who fabricated their own CAI, has anyone put on a bypass valve? I made mine many months ago but only used it for a few weeks cuz I was worried about water comin in and really gettin sick of it just lyin around not bein used. Just wanna make sure if I need a 3" bypass and if it'll fit. Also does anyone know of another place to get besides AEM. I'd like to try to get it for cheaper than 40 bucks since I spent nothin on the CAi Thanks guys

Ha ha, good thing you don't have Nitrous, the Bypass might make it so the N20 doesn't work. I think if I get one, then it'll be before the MAS since the computer should know the change in AIR so that you don't get too rich.

first of all. u don't want the bypass valve up near the throttle body. you want it between the MAS and the filter. try to get it as high as u can. your car will be safe from water as long as the bypass valve doesn't get submerged.

secondly. uhm the bypass valve has been known to fail on the injen intakes for some reason so thats something to think of.

another product u might wanna look at is rtec's inline filter http://rtec-usa.com/ ('http://rtec-usa.com/') i dunno if it can be used as a bypass valve but if u know how water gets up ur intake and how the rtec works it looks like it would work. now ur intake will only suck up water if u have a vaccuum. now to get a vacuum, ur fittings has to be tight (which they should be) and the filter has to be fully submerged. now back to the rtec. the rtec works by when ur itnake starts to suck air really hard, the rtec will open up and let air into the intake. so by theory, if u start sucking up water, your car will start to struggle to suck air. the rtec would open up and then the vaccum would be released. unless the retec was submerged. i haven't testing my theory but its an idea

why dont you want it near the throddle body............i have had no problems and it will not fit between the mas adater and the intake ..........there is a lack of room

its because the water will stop at the bypass valve. now if they water gets all the way near the TB some water might have gone passed already and u already ruined ur MAS, so ur sitll in a bad situation
