would the length of a aftermarket catalytic converter make a error code appear if it is too long or short. Maybe even make a performance difference? So what is the stock length on the V6 galant so I won't have any issuse.

Get under your car and measure it. The length of a cat won't make any difference in a light or performance. Do some research on what a catalytic converter does and howe the O2 sensors work instead of asking so many n00b questions.
