So I have a 2 1/2 inch muffler shop catback with the stock muffler right now because I can't decide what to do. I've narrowed it down to two options, either running a dual axleback with magnaflow mufflers, or, getting the 3G eclipse Greddy SP2 exhaust at a really good price, cheaper than the megan, plus the muffler isn't that huge canister stick out of the back. Here's the link to the Greddy, and the dual exhaust you guys can imagine, would be two tips, one in the stock location, and the other on the opposite side. Let me know what you guys think.
And yes I know the eclipse exhaust would need extending.

this is an easy decision, go with the greddy for the eclipse

Why do you say that? I'm not arguing with you, just want to know why you say that route. The only reaon I brought up the dual idea was because you never really see galants with dual exhausts. I'd love to run a true dual exhaust, but I don't have a v6.

well there are a handful of guys who have pulled off the dual exhaust, usually involes removing the spare and sending pipe up towards the trunk. I really think it looks great but it seems like overkill unless you have huge plans for the exterior of your car AND you don't have the V6, so it may sound boring.

the beauty of the eclipse setup, you add like 10" of pipe or so and you are done. You will achieve both form and function for a lot less money. I'm not saying dual isn't a good route, being unique is awesome, just expensive because of modding and muffler placement (think about that back bumper!!!)

Yeah, I get your point, I saw the way the fuel lines are routed, it would be a bitch, I guess I could fab up a heat shield, but that'd be too much work. The cost would be less for the dual because it would be my uncles shop doing it and basically I have hookups there, but I'm thinking I'll go with the Greddy and maybe one day make it a dual with another Greddy muffler. Thanks for the feedback man.

Damn, that looks hot, but I wouldn't run the exhaust right under the fuel tank like that, plus it's pretty low to the ground. I'll go Greddy, then make it dual Greddy @ some point. Thanks for the pic Ray.

a dual exhaust on a 4cyl will sound like crap and actually decrease hp, unless you have real small piping a the y pipe to compensate the 2 new pipes

the sp2 is a great sounding exhaust, not too loud but a nice subtle tone but at the same time you will know when you step on the gas

They are unique for a galant, I dont care for them but still decent and they are not square.

greddy sounds like a better idea. As someone stated, dual exhuast is going to hinder your horsepower. That's not worth the look of two tips IMO.

Honestly, horsepower was't a concern, it's not like the car is quick or anything, it was mainly for looks anyways. Thanks for the feedback again guys, I'm ordering the Greddy next month once I get paid.

not a galant (my cousin's car) but u get the idea:

the exhaust is made by KLEEMAN and costs, well let's just say it's more than any exhaust made for a galant or eclipse... and it's not just for looks; his car is supercharged.

Those look beatiful, but then again they have to cuz of the price, I like reelax's tips, but they are center outlet and they flow with his custom bumper, my bumper would be stock USDM, so it's SP2 for me for now!

For the Greddy SP2, it doesn't matter what eclipse catback you get right? 4cyl and 6cyl are both the same exhaust?

Damn you Greddy for getting the same exhaust I want.

THose exhaust tips look sweet on that Mercedes but would look stupidand would not flow with a stock Galant bumper.

There's deifinately nothing wrong with a dual setup. As long as you have a great person who knows what their doing set it up. There is some truth in the area of losing horsepower as I 've noticed when I take off from a stop. I'm all about performance, so that really dissappointed me. So just to compensate for the loss I added an electric cutout to my setup with an electronic switch. The cutout is on the second pipe and I get the best of both worlds at the flip of a switch. I can also control the volume of the pipes. With 1 pipe "ON" I maintain about the 5 hp gain over stock I got with the new catback setup and a lower bass out the muffler. When I want to be heard and turn heads I can turn both pipes on and lose that horsepower but have a great sounding bass orchestra heard by all. I haven't done it yet, but can also program my switch to where I can open the 2nd pipe 25%, 50%, and 75% just to get the right amont of sound and hp desired. So if you want to go with a dual setup I would definately recommend getting an electric cutout. I bought mines from "Quicktime Performance."

I made my decision, gonna go with the SP2 then eventually turn it into a dual.

Just do what I did, cut the muff off and weld a straight pipe with a stock tip (so the cops wont know the difference) Cheap and effective. :smt023

there is nothing cheap on my car and there never will be. also going w/o a muffler will get you in trouble in many states.

Yeah, I'm just being a smart ass. Its surprisingly not as loud as I was hoping but it has a nice deep sound to it but not very noticeable. My last car was an accord and it sounded like a beast without the muffler.

go for the aero turbine muffler. i have it on my 8g 2.4L and it sounds amazing. If you decide to dual exhaust it sounds great.
