where and how much did you get them for?
did they come with the resistors to prevent fast blinking or you install the resistors by yoursef?

i've had them for about 2 years. here's what they look like at night next to 6000K HID in JDM cleared 1-piece headlights (click picture for the movie):
http://i242.photobucket.com/albums/ff8/ooreelaxoo/th_switchback.jpg (http://s242.photobucket.com/albums/ff8/ooreelaxoo/?action=view¤t=switchback.flv)
you have to buy the resistors seperately (from them) but they are simple to install.

Mine looks just like reelax's, I also am running the switchbacks with cleared JDM one piece. I'm amazed more people don't have these, they are the best of both world.

it would be for your tags or your driving etc., these are perfectly legal.

^x2, that's the whole point of these, you get both the amber turn signals and the nice clear corners, that's why they cost a freakin ton of money for two bulbs.

I'm not sure what he exactly meant by his post, but I had the same thought after seeing the video. They definitely catch the eye.
If an officer saw these and thought that they could be illegal, he could pull me over. And then proceed to ticket me for my tint, no front plate, and the list goes on.
NOTE: I do not have any illegal things mentioned in the above post *shifty eyes*
edit: Don't get me wrong, I think they look friggen sweet! :D

all of my led's are SMT (surface mount) like the original posters
they are by far whiter than anything else. there really is no blue.
I held them next to some older(top of the line) led's that i replaced, and it made the old ones look very blue.
dwjp90
09-17-2008, 11:00 PM
yea, idk y but when i take pics, they appear a lil blue. they are much whiter
omg, those dome lights are bright as hell

i got SMT in my license plate light and i got them for the city running lights for my jdm but they came out to be a tad bigger but i will fit them somehow, i will also order them for my gauge cluster and the interior light, they are by far my favorite LED lights ever

yeah they look good. and they are DEF. not bluish. I have 6000k HIDs and you can totally tell the difference between the lights. Making me want to switch to 4300k bulbs. But yeah, they are awesome and like was said, its totally the best of both worlds and perfectly legal.

09-17-2008, 11:43 PM
yup
i want to redo those fucking reistors tho, i made them too close to the plug
airborneparainf82
09-17-2008, 11:57 PM
to close to the plug? how so?
wiring in the resistors was not fun. but i think part of that was because I was also wiring up my halo's to my parking lights all at the same time.

lol the blue clip that you use, its like a inch below the clip and i cant attacht the res. to nething

09-18-2008, 01:11 AM
can they give you a repair order for not having a reflector?
technically they can but it is very rare and it would not be due to the bulbs. if you get pulled over w/ these then there was another reason for them to have probable cause. these are whiter than the hyperwhite halogen bulbs and the reflector can't really be seen missing at night unless you are parked w/ all your lights off.

How much do these run? On a scale of 1-10 for pain in the ass level, how hard was it to get the resistors installed?

Alright guys, I wanna get a set of these, they're way too nice. I want size 1157, the 48 SMD one, but as I'm reading this thread IDK what kind of resistor to get, or how to wire it in. What OHM do I need, and where exactly do I wire it once I get these? Thanks
greddy
12-13-2008, 11:35 AM
You would need two 3 ohm resistors, one for each side, and you connect them between the ground wire and the turn signal wire.
HungarianHunter
12-13-2008, 11:37 AM
Sorry, could you give me like a quick paint diagram? So like
Ground wire - resistor - turn signal wire
But which are the ground and which is the turn signal wire?
:P thanks dude :)
airborneparainf82
12-13-2008, 11:38 AM
are you just running your front turn signals with LEDs? If so then you just need two 3 OHM Load Equalizers, one for each side.

ground is the middle black wire... turn signal is the thicker of the 2 green wires. just splice them and connect one wire of the equalizer to the ground and then one wire to the turn. its very simple.

Sorry, call me a moron, but I'm still not followin lol. Is there a wire that goes from the back of the turn signal bulb harness thing, that u cut and splice the resistor into the line?

they just clip in the lil blue thing no stripping neccisary
Reelax
12-18-2008, 01:18 AM
u don't need to strip them... the blue clips are "wire taps", they pierce the the outer vinyl of the wires and create a splice with the new wires via a metal plate inside, without having to cut the original wire. it's better to solder the connections (i do) and not use the wire tap clips, but not totally neccesary.
airborneparainf82

I just soldered, wasn't as easy but I felt secure in knowing it was gtg

Got my switchbacks, but got the cheaper 20 LED Tower II. To my disappointment, they definitely have a bluish tint.
Here is the 20 LED, with a Sylvania Silverstar Headlight and Hella 2020 (Driving Beam):

Gonna try exchanging them for the 48 LED version.

thats weird because mine totally are NOT blue. i hate that my HIDs (6000K) don't match and so Im debating goin 4300K
greddy
12-20-2008, 01:41 AM
Mine are definitely not that blue, my 8000k hid's match up quite well with my 48 led version

wtf? wow i think you got the wrong ones. mines are far from that

?? what for?? maybe I didn't explain myself well.. his picture his headlights look pure white and his turns, obviously, blue as hell. my setup I have, what I think are purewhite (maybe SLIGHTLY greenish) switchbacks and my 6000K HIDs, which I don't think match. Thats why I wanna try 4300K and see how that lines up.

Update:
Got my 48 LED Switchbacks, and now these are nice and white, and much brighter:

Compared to the 20 LED:

Alright guys, I just got mine last night, ordered from v-leds.com, they are super nice and bright, pure white. It was really easy to install, got the 6ohm resistors, I love em :)
They cast pretty damn far actually, I like passing people now, the sides of cars light up whiteish blue (even though the bulbs are pure white) it looks really cool :)
anyone want pics?
