There, 8G from 2000 to 2005 were available with tiptronic (sportronic) trans; just like the 3G eclipse here in the states. Also, regular automatic and 5 speed manual from 1997 to 1999.

The 6G were sold from 91 to 94. MX version is always 5 speed manual, the MF version is always automatic just like the lower end MS; and the ZX version which was the replica of the famous Galant AMG.

So are these USDM or JDM spec? I have been looking to import a car for sometime, but it would cost too much to ship from Japan. But from Venezuela, i could go and get one. Need to know if these will pass DOT like USDM or are they more like the JDM and have to have all the glass, exhaust, ect. change to pass US inspection.

You can register it SC too. We don't have any type of inspections here. If it moves you can drive it here.

cars sold as new in Venezuela are JDM. There are some that are USDM but thats because people imported them from US as private import. We have all the japanese makes and models as JDM, and also we are very big with small european cars such as FIAT, RENAULT, CITROEN, ALFA ROMEO, PEUGEOT, OPEL, SEAT, ETC...
I dont know about if they will pass US inspection, but I know all cars from 95 more or less started to come with catalitic convertors etc.

Also some people have told me that in the state of FLORIDA sence there is no inspection, you could also register a import car there. It's a matter of paying all the taxes...but possible!

importing them would be nice but i think you have to go through the DOT, EPA, US Customs & im guessing you would need to have a registered importer to import it for you...

If you are an american citizen or permanent resident, I think you have the right to import a car as MOVING GOODS. That is if you lived in another country and you wanted to move back to the states, you could bring all your belongings (furniture, cars, etc) I know someone that lived in Germany and other one that lived in another european country and when they came back they brought their cars from there.
