3.8 Liter Engine Question

I have seen several picture of the 3.8 liter V6 that say MIVEC in the engine cover. Mine does not say that, but the window sticker says 3.8L SOHC W/MPI Fuel Inject MIVEC. Is there is a optional cover for the engine or mine not a MIVEC. 2006 LS

I believe the Ralliarts 9g's only have the MIVEC v6's.

I got it 6 weeks ago from my father-in-law. He bought it brand new from a dealer.

MIVEC 6G75's will have "MIVEC" engraved into the valve cover. Eclipse and Galant Ralliarts have the MIVEC 6G75's. The regular 6G75's in the Galants, Eclipse, and Endeavors do not have MIVEC.

Its possible that is a misprint on the dealer price tag. Sometimes during the VIN information input some information isn't correct. I have seen it...even when I worked for Toyota it has happened.

yes. you have a non-mivec heads and that label is wrong. yours is just 230hp. only ralliarts has ~260hp mivec heads in a galant.

Mivec 3.8 = 258hp on Galant RalliArt. 263hp on Eclipse GT.

The regular 6G75's in the Galants, Eclipse, and Endeavors do not have MIVEC.


The 06 and newer Eclipse only come with the Mivec both in 4cyl and V-6. They never put the non Mivec V-6 in...Just saying

He might be 5 years late but for someone who just ran into this problem it might be just in time just saying. I seen alot of threads with great info that just don't get resolved and fall short every little bit counts don't you think?
