View Full Version : Any interest in a CUSTOM TURBO KIT for the 8G's ????

I've been making custom turbo kits for a few years now for various cars (civics, integras, eclipses, evos, and some scions) and was wondering if there is any interest in custom kits for the galants.

This kit would only be for the 2.4l 4 cylinder engines. not the v6 models.

the kit would include:

log style header
t3/t4 50 trim turbo
38mm wastegate
blow off valve
intercooler

and all piping needed.

if there is interest in such a kit i would put the kit in the price range of about $1500. im not sure if that would be the final price. but im thinking that would be a good guess.

well anyway just let me know if this sounds like something i should start working on. im not going to waste my money making the kit if there isnt anyone that wants one.

Thanks,
Chris Terry

P.S. ive attached a few pics from previous kits ive made. sorry the pics arent great.

here is a 3000gt we made parts for.

here is a supra we did parts for

fabbing up a 50 trim log style header for a scion tc... it later dynoed at 268 whp. and it didnt even have any fuel upgrades or ecu upgrades. strickly the turbo kit. not too shabby for a basically stock engine

this is the turbo kit on my evo... its pushing about 400 ponies. and the blue is not that bright. :)

Hey, where going to need more information from you 1st before we even think about getting into a GB. Please read the following rules. We have had several mishaps recently and we are taking Group Buys VERY seriously now. Post up how long turn around time your company needs to make this kit, and any other information which would benefit a potential buyer Thank You Chris.

GB Rules: https://www.thegalantcenter.org/showthread.php?t=32424

General Rules: https://www.thegalantcenter.org/showthread.php?t=27273

Need more info, like what something like this would cost? is it everything you need or is it like other kits out there and we can only use part of it? Details man! Dont leave us hanging!

Sorru, must have skipped the price the first time around. If this was everything that i would need to turbo my car, i would be interested in a kit. But so far every kit made wont work, you have to use pieces from it and other to replace crappy parts.

If this will be a direct bolt-on kit without modifications then I'll be definitely interested..

supermac, everyone says they want a kit made. then they see the $3000+ price tag and no one buys it. this is why vendors dont make anything for us aymore

throw us a price first

edit: lol apparently I cant read. haha if that is close to the end price I would be interested as well. but I would definitely want some definitive proof of your work and parts longevity before I show any cash.

the price would most likely be in the $1500 range. and yes it would be a complete bolt on kit. thats what i was selling my scion tc kits for and i dont think this will be anymore complex. i just dont want to get $1000 into developing this kit and then never sell one to anybody.

the only upgrades i would reccomend that i wouldnt include would be bigger injectors and some sort of ecu piggyback fuel controller.

No V6 kit? You tease us with the 3/S picture... :(

how long would a kit take to produce do you think?

DryBear

So this price would only be for the hot/cold piping and turbo? What brand turbo/intercooler/wastegate/BOV?

Fuel management would be left to the end user (injectors, controller, fuel pump, etc)?

$1500 is not a bad price for just the piping/turbo, though, as those are the more difficult parts to source.

As stated before, *everyone* wants a "kit" - its just a scant few who actually pony up the money for it.

Good luck!

Id be interested in a direct bolt on kit.
If you are to produce these, whats a rough estimate on completion and readiness for sale?

this project wont happen for a while. i just wanted to gather info and see if its worth doing. the weather here locally sucks and the car id be working on is my friends car. so i will be at the mercy of both. but ill log my progress and keep the thread up to date as much as i can.

Just my .02, but what our platform absolutely lacks is a turbo piping for the V6. That's what I would build and sell.

I would really be interested in this kit too. Never thought of turboing the 4G64 because the power produced for the price that I was looking at wasn't worth it. This might change things.

I want references, numbers, videos, site, more pictures, testimonials, etc...

$1500 is a great price, but a price is a waste of money without the above...

I'd be interested..... btw any specific details on the kit such as what kind of turbo it is? what kind of parts are you using? is it a turbo kit that will only last for a week and 3 hrs? im just curious.

The first pic you showed was of a V6. Is there a reason you can't do one for the Galant V6? I am definitely interested and I have no problem coming up with the funds. I think that you may have a lot more interest here if you were to do a kit for the V6. Especially a twin turbo.

$1500 is a real good price. Too bad I have a V6.

If I wanted to get all that stuff you quoted for my Sentra, it would cost about $2500, not even including the installation, unless you can do it for less?

This looks very interesting, so you're claiming your kit gives 168 hp scion about 100 hp?

That is what makes me a bit skeptical but if thats the numbers our cars will be around 240ish without other upgrades sounds like a dream

Keep us posted and if there are enough interested as it seems there are chances for a Group Buy possible?
