5spd Guru's - Need Help

drove my car into work today and when i went to reverse, the car went into gear just fine, but when trying to come out of reverse it was stuck, i had to slam it out of gear to get it back to neutral, got it out, then put it back in reverse and the same thing happened (did this like 10 times, just checking it out....any ideas? first time it ever happened

just park on hills and u never need reverse

check the shifter linkage and the cable bushings. also the shifter

i had that problem when the TOB was failing

even if the car isnt running? it happens whenever, im not even pressing the clutch with the car off, just running thru the gears, it engages and disengages any gear but reverse, it sticks until i force it out

Sounds like an issue with the cable linkages. Pop off the shifter trim and make sure they attached securely. Look in the bay and make sure the same. Take the two linkages off the transmission and push them in and out, make sure you are able to push/pull them smoothly.

If all that checks out, might be an issue with the trans internally.

when you did your install did you get brand new shifter cables? I used the ones from the junkyard for a while and my reverse and 5th were so hard I had to use some serious force. cables broke I changed them and now I can do it with 3 fingers.
