see dre this is why i never sold my G. i knew i would finish it eventually. but its still not done. you hit me up for wheel specs i already got the down for the galant. you know what would look sick? sicknlows wheels on VSC. i know they were up for sale and i was thinking bout getting them. perfect fit but 19's, it would look good still though.

oh and front struts is a big problem, i still havent found out how to get them to ride decent. when you get there you should stop by my shop and take a ride in mine, its a ghetto job right now but youll get the idea. maybe we can meet up. damn the socal meet is this weekend but idk if im going anymore.

i hate how hard is is to slam the galant in the front

Yeah, no kidding, especially if you wanna run tires any wider than 225 width, the day I put my CO's on I slammed it all the way in the front, and the top of the tire was even with the top of the fender, no gap whatsoever, but it rubbed like a mofo, so now there is a finger gap all around.

VIPtint
12-12-2008, 01:48 AM
the problem i have is i have no gap but only an inch of travel. it rubs the liner at full turn a little, but no fender rub. and if i hit semi big bumps the struts bottom out

greddy
12-12-2008, 01:52 AM
What are you running on again, cut springs or custom short body coilovers? I have the same rubbing issues, no fender rub, but the liner has been rubbed away at full lock. I would think a set of custom short body coilovers would give you a little more travel and with a stiffer spring rate you wouldn't bottom out as much.

This car will be EXACTLY as It was before. Minus the rims and cyber2 sides and rear.

Before my car crashed.... *TEAR*..... I had VR4 sides and VRG rear with accent crap....

It will be just that. It will be the same color with the black center grill and VRG bumper center.

IM fiinishing what I started and envisioned.

Just add a sunroof to the dream, leather interior, and new set of wheels....

That is what my car will be.

6k HIDs for heads and Fogs...just as before.

Megan Coils....or UAS (universal air suspension) with KYB AGX.....

....or if megans fit with UAS.....HEHEHE

************************************************

Here is the reality check.

No point hiding it...

I plan to get Nokcy21 car...as is.
Just as his signature shows.

Yea. its his finished car.

BUT that was my vision.

Ofcourse it will have my touches....

Nardi woodgrain steeringwheel/shift knob, HID 6k lighting, wheels, suspension

and MISC stuff.

Im one to say anyone who buys a show car...

NO RESPECT since you didnt build it.

But he built my dream. I had all his parts in my garage weeks before I crashed my car.

So its a 50/50 thing to me as me finishing my car and buying a finished car.

People will have their opinion.

People that know me and my build of the old Galant know whats up.

I even bought a rolled Galant for its interior and misc parts then scapped it to the junk yard.

Rambling put aside. I know how to build my Galant.

Would have cost more to get a stock and order all the EXACT SAME PARTS from Triggermauve, then paint it all....

Car will be painted to white eventually.

Till then, its a daily so I can garage the LS400 for special times....

I.E when im not working. LOL

Whats all your opinions....

Sillyasianz
12-12-2008, 02:09 AM
NO clue. No clue @ all on the wheel.

Doubt ill do wheels or the suspension part asap.

I have enough debts as it is.

Learned for the Lexus. Wheels and Suspension make the car.

Comeon...VIP inspired or Tuner...lol

I dont do motor work, unless its minor bolt on crap.

The old Galant was simple and clean. VIP inspiration for DAYS.

All future cars will be.

Not into Tuner ne more, haven't been for years.

I went to the old VIP meet/photoshoot in City of Industry before in the Galant.

I got a VIP mindset.

As long as the car is still in the TGC family its all good, right? I mean weather whos car or whos parts they were. the main thing is that it gets build for the whole world to see. So good luck man on the changes and remake of sillyazianz

Dre...good to see you in a Galant. Your previous Galant was one of the best looking 8g's on the board. You did it right and had some sweet rare ultra cool JDM parts on that car. A "VIP" galant is a sweet idea....a 8g can pull off that look.

Great Idea!
BUT Im always into white cars.
The Lexus will be painted all white eventually, just as the Galant will be.
Look at my sig, same setup. all white, no Fiberglass this time, and center grill/front bumper will be black.

I will have the chrome grill too. He's giving me the painted JDM and JDM chrome one.

I can get the pillars in chome, all door handles in chrome, and just as my SSR Vienna, get some wheels that are bright....but well see.

The car will stay as with with HIDs for heads/fogs as the first mod to make it more safe @ night.

We'll see what I do. His car is already done really.

Just Suspension, Wheels, and misc minor touches to it is all it needs.

But trust I wont be cheap and take my time on the wheels. That will really set the car off.

Im just still not sure the way 240sx people measure their cars to maximize what Wheels and tires they can push.

Thankfully my friend is a moderator at Zilvia.net and will do all that math for me :P

Im only gonna do a full flat fender roll all around, largest camber kit available, and a MILD pull @ most.

Wheels I havent even started to shop cause knowing me, I'll buy them already. lol

from my math you can do 18x10.5 +36, 18x10 +31, 18x9.5 +25, 18x9 +19, 18x8.5 +13
if you want 19 i would try 19x10.5 +mid 40 ish

ill slap my front scara on my rear to test it if you want. its a 19x9.5 +35, so i can easily do the math on 19s too but i need to test it first.

19x10.5 +(40-50) will definately rub strut in the rear. my 19x8.5 +48 is very close allready and camber corrected... go negative and it will touch (especially on full compression). 19x10.5 +20 might do the trick; 3mm more inner clearance and 53mm more extended (gonna have to fold, pull, poke and stretch). your 18x8 +15 (-5 spacer = +10 total) extends 37mm more than mine but also has 44m more clearance inside than my wheels. check your 19x9.5 +35 for clearance to rear strut for a better idea, you'd have a more concrete idea of final offset since your running heavy negative camber and have less innner clearance than me right now. probably gonna have to stretch 235's or even 225's to get this to tuck. it's gonna be real close (but that's the whole point right)!

Backspace is a easy measurement to know and give you what does and what doesn't fit, but I'm not going to give any more input on the subject.

VIPtint
12-13-2008, 05:04 PM
yeah thats why i need to test, my math is all from the QP. i have no idea if it will hit the spindle. but once i test fit my 19 i can better idea of what specs will do. i wouldnt suggest going with anything wider than a 9.5 in the rear of a G.

Backspace is a easy measurement to know and give you what does and what doesn't fit, but I'm not going to give any more input on the subject.

it's just that the available space to suspension is going to be affected by negative camber, that's why VIPTINT and i are seeing different things... that's why mine fit well (even at full strut compression) slammed BUT camber corrected... i know they would not fit at current ride height and still allow suspension travel if i was not camber corrected. i theorize 10-10.5 can be done w/o flares but it is going to be a question of mm's clearance on both inside and outside in the rear and fender folding/cutting (and probably pulling) will be required.

actually the camber doesnt matter because regardless of camber the spindles goes with it. so if you camber the wheel, the spindle tilts inward too. but with a bigger diameter wheel it gets closer to the spindle cuz it arches outward, so i have to test the 19. i can calculate it for 18 though.

its sprinkling so i wont test it today

19x10 or 10.5 won't fit unless you run 6" of backspace or less. And if you run less you are running a lower offset as a result, and bringing the wheel outer lip in line with the fender. Even if you put a 18x10 or 10.5" its not going to clear the fenders. You'd have to have a stupid skinny tire to clear the rear knuckle and fender.

And lets be honest a 10 or 10.5" wheel will not fit anything less than a 235, and that is with mega stretch on it. Even if you fit a 225 why would you want to? And I'd hope it wouldn't be a daily vehicle.

It all matters no matter what you think. If you didn't use excessive camber or cutout your fender lip the wheels you so adamantly say fit wouldn't fit. Regardless of what is thought I know quite a bit about what fits and how to make it fit correctly without running stupid amounts of camber or modifying your rear knuckle.

Anyways...welcome back Silly. Can't wait to see how your next G turns out.

Camber @ rear will be max (probably -2.5 or more)

Ride Height will be either as low as before on coils (little above cigarette box length) Or air suspension

Stretched Tire for sure, not extreme, but a stretch none the less.

....Not dont all get excited. I dont plan to spend $$ money asap on this car. I will keep putting into account the info your all posting...

We actually should start a wheel and tire 101 with measurements and tire sizes/brands like we have on VSC Norman :)

Maybe we can change the mindset of some of the TGC people from Tuner to VIP in respect to the wheel setups...

HE SOLD THE CAR....After I told him on AIM I want it. He sold it. I dont know what Im going to do now.

even if we did, there's only a handful on here that would run really nice wheels (only like 5-10 really nice sets on this board)... and even less of this community is willing to do what it takes to run aggressive fitament at scraping heights, or to put up w/ the accompanying hassle and expense. VIP is exclusive for a reason.

So here is the plan:

Day1:
Drive the astro van up north to get the car and parts.
-Drive stock home with van full of goodies behind.
-Install what I need.
-Post for sale with pics what I dont need.
-Install HID 6k kit to heads low and fogs
-Install Nardi Woodgrain Shift knob from old Galant
-Install NRG hub/quickrelease from old Galant
*Interchange Nardi Woodgrain Steering wheel from Lexus to Galant*
(both have NRG quickrelease)

Drive like that for a while....

Eventually..within 2009... :smt020
-Install camber kit rear and replace front camber kit if any issues
-Drive to my friends house who builds Mini Trucks and is a master fabricator for air suspensions for a custom kit for the car... hehehe :smt096
-Get the REAL JDM wheels as wide and low an offset @ 19s I can do
-Stretch the hell out of the tires to maximize low offsets w/o rubbing
-Roll fenders more if needed w/ my Eastwood Fender roller I have
-Pull fenders professionally if needed
-Paint the Galant and Lexus the same white color I decide

Done! :smt063

Dre..take tons of pics of the road trip up and road trip down with the new Galant:cool: I am sure between here and myspace, there will be tons of pics. From what your plans are...this Galant sounds like its gonna look SICK! I eventually would like to have a VIP'ish car...the VIP look has been slowly becoming more appealing. If the new Galant looks near what the Galant ZT prototype....VIP 10g is on the go!!

Whew! Left my pad @ noon, headed north, had some Artisan Pizza w/ a pitcher of Hef beer and JUST GOT BACK NOW.

Mission complete.

Thanks for the car man.

Sorry 4-G-Rim, only took like 1 or two shots, it was raining and wasnt a scenic route. I would have just had shots of cows and tumbeweeds.

lol
