does anybody with the MT swap on here have these? this is the part# 5.1102 but i cant find and actual pictures of the "kit". i'm looking to get the bushings and i was going to get a set for the Evo8 but these are a lot cheaper then most of the sets for the Evo.

bonehead performance has the closest thing to an actual picture but it only shows 2 pieces, but it is the same number.
http://www.boneheadperformance.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Category_Code=EVO8-ct-shift

im looking for shifter base bushings because when i shift i can hear the plastic base cracking

im trying to decide between polyurethane or solid aluminum, but im leaning a little more towards the poly ones so the shifter base doesn't break during hard shifts.

Any suggestions would be great

ok see i saw those but i was thrown off by the picture since the 3g/evo have 1 small and 1 large bushing and that picture has 2 small ones... there's no description so are those brass? im scared to use anything solid like that since the end of the shifter cables are plastic.

did these really help your shifting?

yeah their brass, i can take a pic for you if you like tomorrow? Shifting difference i cant tell you, since i put these in during my swap since roman recommended me getting these so we popped them in. My shifting is firm, i also have an ebay short shift kit which i bought at the same time. Id pm roman, for more clarification since maybe he had the plastic ones, before these and can tell you if he noticed a difference or not.

Doh, I just threw out the box for my Energy Suspension Shifter Base bushings

Mine came with eight pieces - the four big bushings for each corner and a support ring that goes under the base and around the bushing. You reuse the brass insert from the OEM rubber bushings. FYI, I had to use longer bolts.

Should have let you drive my 8G while I was there so you could feel the difference with a short shifter+bushings.

I can't compare the feel to the oem ones, as I have not driven at all with the stockers. Plus I have a shortshifter and a weighted knob. But the shifting is pretty crisp, I do love my setup. Pepboys has them the cheapest, I got mine for $8 shipped.

i think youll be fine with the ES base bushings, there pretty stiff and if your banging gears hard enough that you need aluminum then your probaly gonna be missing alot of shifts. if you opt for the aluminum base bushing set youll being spending more money for not much difference but you cant go wrong either way and an extra 20 isnt much anyway.

that pic from bonehead performance of the shifter base almost looks metal wich would make it a dsm base if its even that.

I also use the ES base bushings and the kartboy brass cable end bushing. My shifter is really solid with the ES bushings, I dont think you need aluminum

ok so thanks guys ES bushings it is then. i just ordered the red ones from autozone because the were cheaper then the black for some odd reason.

i still have the brass cable end bushings that Dry Bear gave me so im going to use those since you guys are using them with no problem, i was just worried when i saw ivory8g's busted cable ends.

and i just ordered this short shifter the evo shifter is 32 but the eclipse one is 21 lol same exact part tho, oh well

I used to have the energy baseplate bushings.....
I really liked them until I found a deal on cnc machined stainless steel ones (symborski shift kit)
When I switched them out, the difference was night and day.
I just wish I could get all the time back that I wasted with the energy bushings.

Cause the solid is definatly the way to go.

I also have skateboard ball bearings replacing the rubber bushings on the gear selector arms that are on the trans.

damn i didnt think there would be much difference between polyurethane and the aluminum bushings, good to know.

lol and using skateboard bearings is hilarious but pure genius

My shifter has all the precision of a bolt action sniper rifle.

when I drive my escort lol....... finding a gear is like Dane Cook trying to find the cupholder for his soda in a movie theater.

:039: Yea Yea Holy Thread Revival hehe..... No really has anyone with an 8G tried to use ball bearings for either the shifter base or shifter cable connections?

they make solid brass and hard poly bushings for the shift cables on the 8g/3g

Yea i checked out a couple of sites that sold both alum or brass underhood bushings and the shifter base bushings. From what I understand the poly. bushing at the base can feel just as solid with the alum. or brass underhood bushings. I googled "ABEC" ball bearings and they look like they can be a cheap $4-10 solution for both given they come in diff. measurements.
