Does anyone have any input on cutting the fins of the stock usdm grill? What is best to use to cut the fins as well as the black piece shown in the pic? Is there a chance I can get away with not repainting and still look good? Not a problem if I have to paint it...

Dremel tool and some sanding will do the trick.
I thought about doing the same thing before, but I decided to go with JDM instead.

If you sand it correctly, you can paint the sanded areas black and leave the rest chromed.

Yea I believe dremel would work best. I used like a hack saw cause I didn't know we had a dremel hidden in the depths of the garage lol

then I found the dremel and used it for the corners

I remember when I first did this I used a damn circular saw and garden shears, had to sand it by hand forever to get it semi smooth
