View Full Version : Want to run this by you guys before I buy (strut bar)

It's for a 3G eclipse (00-05), and it's a bolt - on that attaches to all 3 bolts.

Before I buy, I want to make sure it's okay. I'm just a little wary that this improvement could cost so little...

And just to make sure, I simply remove the nuts from the strut towers, put the brace on, and put the nuts back on, correct?

If I missed something, I apologize in advance. I've been searching for/reading what I can for the past few weeks before getting ready to make a move on a strut brace of my own.

It's crap. I have one similar to that collecting dust in my backyard. You can have it for free but it's not worth it. You want something fixed with no swivels.
Boomer!

I was wondering about that. Thanks for the heads-up.

Anytime. get a DC one, they are about 110 and you have to get it for the 3G, 2000 to 2005 eclipse, or a stock eclipse one that comes on the V6 Eclipse.

From what I've read, I didn't think the DC's were that much better than the 3G eclipse ones for the price difference...

Do the 3G bars even have a non-swivel version?

Sooner!

Also, is this the one you're referring to?

The stock 3G bars are not swiveled. They are the best for the buck. You can pick one up for about 50 bucks used.

That's what the DC bar looks like, the ebay listing you posted looks correct.

Lol, thanks for all the pictures. I'm not seeing any of the solid 3G eclipse ones on ebay. I may just go with the DC bar (I can afford it, I'll just get to listen to my parents whine about it for a while :P)

Are there any for sale on the forums right now? I'm about 5 posts away from being able to look in the commerce section. :(

Hey, nvm, I just moved from n00b to member. Schweetness...

*Edit: Sadness, I'm still not allowed to view that forum...

You can post a wanted post for that 3G stock bar or Pm Rez. He's in Dallas and can usually get one for 50 shipped and you have it in one day. I did.

I may go with the DC since it looks a lot cooler when the hood's up :P.

Since we're on the subject (sort of), where's the best place to go (or who can I go through) to get myself a set of coilovers and a rear sway bar? I'm going to sink my budget into suspension this spring, and I want to try and get my ducks in a row.

Also, can I get a better deal through someone here on the DC bar? (better than the ebay link I posted)

Addco makes a sway bar, as does ST, I believe RRM also makes one for our platform, try our vendors on here, they have very reasonable pricing, same with the coilovers, go through our vendors!

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

I still don't have permission to access that section of the forum.:mad:

The rules say 45 days, but I'm reading 1 year in the forum assistance threads. Can I get an admin to help me out?

I had ADDCO and was a great rear sway bar upgrade. Megan coil overs will run you about $900.

I'm on megans right now, as are quite a few other members, the rest are split amongst D2, K-sport, and Tein, they are all about the same unless you get the Tein SS-P which you can use EDFC with. I have the ST rear sway bar right now, buy the sway bar first, one of the best upgrades I ever did on my car.

Thanks a ton for the help, guys. Considering I knew nothing about cars a year ago, you've made this stuff a lot less daunting.

No problem dude, we've been there. If you need work on your Galant, or need parts installed, let me know. I'll hook you up.

I'm looking to buy a sway bar myself (I love tax refunds). Is this the bar that you recommend? Will this fit with no modifying? When I put on an exhaust later on does this sway bar have any problems with that?

The only place I could find the bar online from a retailer I've heard of. If you know any place to get one cheaper, please tell me.

Does the DC sports sway bar require and modifications to mount it or does it use the existing bolts? (front sway bar)
