Im thinking about replacing my clutch in my 94 s when i change out the motor with the 50000 miler in my 97 and just wanted info on a cheap, strong clutch kit. Im looking for 20% more gripping power and above, but dont want to spend over 200. Any recomendations?? Thanks.

I had the Exedy OEM replacement in my turbo Galant, held up fine, only have maybe 15k on it but its still running strong. $89 for the disc and pressure plate.

You could get a Fidanza 2.1 for $250ish, same with a Spec Stage 1. Next up is an ACT 2100 @ $350ish.

Clutch kit prices must have went up, I dont remember paying over $450 for my old 2600 way back when.

This is a great deal on an Exedy clutch kit and Fidanza lightweight flywheel:

^That is the same combo I have in my Galant now. I have had this clutch since February 2006

I heard good things about Exedy does anyone know the difference in between the Performance vs the OEM clutches? I once read that the only difference is a heavier pressure plate.

There's more to it involving disc design and material. Take a look at http://www.advancedclutch.com/ or http://www.exedyusa.com/race/.

oem/street/ light race clutch kits all use the same disc.
because a oem-like sprung hub disc is going to have the smoothest engagement, and least amount of chatter.

so to increase the load capacity, they include a higher spring rated pressure plate. The increase in clamping force allows you to hold more torque.
