Help ManyBrews!!!!, or someone who knows mits mechanics

my 96 galant with 56,000 miles on it, is running strangely. when i rev the engine i hear sort of a whining sound, it sounds like a weedwhacker. the engine itself sounds a little abnormal at idle, and also i am getting thumping, and muffled sounds when i try to accelerate hard at low gears. my mechanic says i just need a new computer, but i am not so sure.

that low thump sounds like your motor mounts might be bad. You have 3 motor mounts and one tranny mount. Check to see if they're cracked or completely broken.

The whining noise you mentioned, is that coming from the motor itself or through your speakers inside the car?

that whining sound is coming from inside the engine, but to hear it you have to stand outside the car

new computer? i highly doubt it.

please explain the noise as best you can.. and include when it happens (cold, hot, morning, night, etc.etc).
everything you can tell me may help.
